For the davenport article:
I 1. List at least 3-5 things you learned from the articles. Short, bulleted statements are fine.

learned that Climate change can lead to food shortage, wildfires and dying off coral
reefs.

I learned that Greenhouse emissions are caused by coal burning. I did not know this.

I learned that greenhouse emission warms up atmosphere by 2.7 F. I did not know that
greenhouse emissions have the ability to warm up the atmosphere, especially to that
extend.

2. Has this topic or how could this topic affect you personally or professionally?

A friend of mine lives near the Shasta-trinity national forest (which was shown in
the article). She was affected by the wildfire. I think that we need to tame
climate change because as it said in the article, the wildfires will get worse if we
don’t tame climate change. Also, I have visited Hebei province and it was smog-
clouded due to the greenhouse gasses. This is an issue that we need to improve
and take action.

3. What ethical issues do you think are related to these topics? Think individual, societal,
and global.

It would be unethical to respond to climate change in a way that does not benefit
all and is harmful to certain individuals.

(this can be subjective) It would be unethical to continue with greenhouse

emissions if it would cause issues to the environment such as if it causes
droughts.

It would be unethical to neglect the issues regarding climate change in

developing countries and only focus on developed countries.
It would be unethical if controlling climate change involved controlling other
people’s lives and compromising their lives.

4. Do you agree or disagree with what you read/watched? Why?

For the davenport article:

(this article isn’t really opinion based so it is hard to say whether I agree or disagree, but I’ll try my
best)

I agree that with the article. Global warming is threat to mankind, animals, plants and our
environment. If not prevented it will lead to food shortage and death. As it said in the article, a report
from the United Nations about climate change ‘paints a far more dire picture of the immediate
consequences of climate change than previously thought’. I think that we need to transform the world
economy at a fast speed because that can help improve the dire situation as a result of climate
change. As the article said, climate change can lead to food shortages and dead coral reefs in 2040.
In order to avoid serious damage, we should transform the world economy. I agree that high prices on
co2 emissions would be beneficial.
How can we have world leaders come to the term that global warming is a threat to all countries?

5. What are 3-5 questions you have about what you read?

What can we do as citizens to prevent the increase of global warming?

How to educate all citizens about the dire effects global warming?
