II. DESCRIPTION

A. Physical Description (Describe the physical features – exterior, interior, landscape surrounding the structure)

EXTERIOR:

The church is located in a hill facing north, in the west side is the house of the leader of the
Rizalista’s on the east part is the road and nearby houses and on the south part is the barangay/community
hall.It is 15-20 steps up before reaching the main door.On the upper left corner is the bell. The church is
surrounded by different flowering plants.

INTERIOR:

Upon entering the church you will see the altar where various framed pictures depicting Jose Rizal
our national hero is located, above of it is a blue rectangular cloth where some words and dates are
embroidered just like Rizal,Bonifacio,Hunyo 12,1898,at the center is our Philippine flag and beside of it is
another green cloth where a name Dr. Mons Solomon C. Eligado was embroidered too.

A triangular table is located at the left part. There is also an eye of providence located at the top
most.When facing the main door there are 10 wooden chairs on both sides. The floor is ground. The ceiling is
made from woods.

B. History of the Structure (Write the history of construction, use/function of the building over the years, history of
intervention)

According to our informant Sir Gundaway Jose when he was 14 years old his family migrated at Barangay
Guilingan which is from Busilak, Bayombong Nueva Viscaya. His father Bernardo Jose who was an apostle of
Dr. Mons Solomon C. Eligado their “pangulo” or leader came here in the year 1965 because of their belief
which is Rizalista.

Before there was no permanent place for their church they move from one place to another until their
leader Dr. Mons Solomon C. Eligado passed away, his father lead the group. Bernardo Jose decided to built a
new church together with his fellow Rizalista which was located at their land particularly beside their house.

When Bernardo Jose died, Gundaway Jose took over the position of his father as “pangulo” of the
group.Until now the church is managed by Gundaway Jose and maintained by the family.

III. STORIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE STRUCTURE

According to Ma’am Erlinda Pascua, 68 years old barangay kagawad of barangay Guilingan, sister of
Gundaway Jose,when they were young the whole family transferred at Guilingan with the leader of the
group Dr. Mons Solomon. Their father Bernardo Jose took over when their leader died. The land where the
“santuaryo” or their chuch was built was owned by Bernardo Jose the father of Gundaway Jose who is now
the leader of the group.He is the one who lead the mass or prayer.The mass service does not have strict
format. It starts at 8:30 and end on different times.Mostly it consist of nationalistic songs.They also have
sermons.There are also thanks giving mass, prayer for the dead and others.

During their mass service on Sundays their church or santuaryo is usually far from being half full.
There may be 10 attendees. According to Sir Gundaway Jose he can’t really stop worshipers from having
change of heart.

IV. SIGNIFICANCE

 Historical because the church was built during the leadership of Bernard Jose.
 Social because it is where the Rizalistas gather during Sundays or special occasions.
 Spiritual where they pray and thank Rizal for everything they have.

The church is in fair condition though some of the woods have been damaged due to its old age.

The church remain at the original site but some parts like the roof was changed because it was damaged by
typhoons.

C. CONSTRAINTS/THREATS/ISSUES:

One of the threats being considered was due to natural calamities just like typhoons and earthquakes.

D. CONSERVATION MEASURES: (Describe the conservation measures taken at the level of the community, provincial and/or
national)

Since then the church is under the custody of Gundaway Jose and his family. They maintain its cleanliness and safetiness at all times.
