HISTORY
Game was developed from ancient
pastime known as battledore and
shuttlecock.

1878– British army officer’s stations in India brought the game in England.
1934– the International Badminton Federation, the world governing body
for the sporty was founded.
1977– the World Badminton Federation was founded.

COURT—the official court measures 44


ft. long by 22 ft. wide for double game
and 44 ft long by 17 ft wide for single
game.

• HEAD– bounds the stringed area.


• STRINGED AREA– is the part of the racket with which it is intended the
player hits the shuttle.
• SHAFT– connects the handle to the head.
• THROAT– connects the shaft to the head.

A shuttlecock is formed from


1840 feather with velvet 16 or so overlapping feathers,
