Hello everyone we are group 9 and we have chosen the Fashion retail Industry for our project and in

that we have chosen shoppers stop for a detailed research. Though the industry was growing at a fast
pace and was hit by the pandemic badly, the Indian Fashion Retail industry is promising in the post-
Covid era, as it has brought about a mammoth of opportunities for new and emerging technologies to
bridge the gap between fashion and consumers which all of us are going to see next with the example of
shoppers stop.

So shoppers stop is an Indian department store chain, owned by the K Raheja Corp. started in the year
1991 in Mumbai and is present in 47 cities across india and has 84 stores where 73 of them are in mall
store and the rest 11 are standalone stores. Along with their fashion departmental stores they also have
home stop which is premium home furnishing's concept store, which aims to offer products in home
decor, furniture and accessories based in city of Mumbai and Bangalore they have total 11 stores of
these. Then there are beauty stores like the Estée Lauder, Mac cosmetics, Clinique and bobby brown
which are owned by shoppers stop and total number of these stores are 130 in India. it entered in
partnership with Nuance Group AG, and opened stores in Mumbai T1 and Bengaluru Airport. An e-store
with delivery across major cities in India was launched in 2008, with a smartphone app in 2016 and lastly
the crossword book stores as we all know which are 80 in India. There are total 330 stores spread across
4.5 million sq ft.

Moving on to the sales of shoppers stop so we got the data of the fy 21 for it sales where the footfalls
were 111 million visits, where we got to know the highest were in quarter 3 due to all the unlocking
procedure and the festive season during that time.

First citizen is well know loyalty program of shoppers stop which contribute almost 80 % of shoppers
stop sales. The number of first citizen members increased to 7.7 million by the last financial
year.
Shoppers stop have their own private label brand like Life, IVY, Stop to name a few which contributes to
13.4% of total sales of the company.

Shoppers stop also has their own ecommerce website through which they sell their products and apart
from that they have their private labels listed on amazon as well which contributes to 6% of their total
sales.

The major chunk of sales happens in the area of fashion and beauty brand where shoppers stop have
almost all the major brand available in their departmental stores which generates the highest revenue
for them followed by their beauty stores. Also shoppers stop has 10 thousand brand staff or their
employees and a talent pool of 5 and half thousand of them.

So moving on to the distribution flow of shoppers stop, Shoppers stop follow hub and spoke model for
distribution, where shoppers stop and its partners follow level 1 distribution strategy. The hub and
spoke model refers to a distribution method in which a centralized "hub" exists. Everything either
originates in the hub or is sent to the hub for distribution to consumers. From the hub, goods travel
outward to stores owned by the company, called spokes, for further processing and distribution.

So as you can see shoppers stop directly sources the merchandise or products from their partners, the
partners in this case are all the brand that are available in shoppers stop or the manufacturer of the
products. Next in line you can see the distribution centers, shoppers stop has 4 distribution centers in
India one for every zone east, west, north, south which are located in the cities of Mumbai, Delhi,Kolkata
and banglore according to their zones. The products directly reach these distribution centers through
the manufacturer of brands which are available on shoppers, there more than 500s brands or vendors
with shoppers stop who directly supply products to their DC’s. These distribution centers are fully
automated and centrally controlled with the help of WMS that is warehouse management system. Also
the WMS of distribution center business is outsourced by shoppers stop to JDA software group, where
all the 4 distribution centers now have a powerful warehousing solution that meets current and future
demands of the competitive and varied distribution environment in which it operates. This allows
Shoppers Stop to leverage automatic allocation for faster outbound processing and delivery and will also
help in its omni channel strategy.

Next from the distribution center it directly goes to the departmental stores of that zone for eg from
Mumbai dc it will go to obviously Mumbai store but alongside it also pune stores, Ahemedabad store,
Surat store etc. The same pattern is followed for its ecommerce business while allowing customer
,facilities like click and collect from store.

Just like the forward way of distribution there is also a backward way in the same pattern which is the
blue arrow in the chart which is called as reverse logistics of shoppers stop. Next slide

So major reasons for reverse logistics in shoppers stop are these when there are manufacturing defects,
if there is any deficiency in service like if the product is not up to the standards of shoppers stop, also
consignment stocks from the distribution center. So moving on to the process of reverse logistics is the
same way as it is shown in the distribution flow but backwards if there is any defect in goods when any
customer returns the goods purchased to the store the store then sends it to the distribution center of
their particular zone, the zone than sends the goods to vendor or the partner and then the DC does the
process of debiting the vendor and the whole billing process.
