LESSON 3 - Science Education in the

Philippines

INTRODUCTION

The Philippines is trying its best to improve the state of science


education in the country.

This lesson will discuss the concept of science education and will
identify some strategies to promote science education in the country. One of
the strategies is to establish science schools that will encourage students to
pursue their career in science and technology and to nurture their gifted
potentials in science.

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this lesson, you are expected to:

 discuss the concept of science education; and


 identify science schools established to promote science education in the
Philippines.

ACTIVITY

1. Small Group Activity.

Identify science and technology policies that could be adopted or


implemented in the Philippines.

Use recycled paper for this activity. (Max. of 10-12 pcs long-sized bond
paper)

Present your output in class.

Presentation is limited to 7-10 minutes.

APPLICATION - Based from the Information Sheets on the different


topics in Lesson 3, answer the following:
1. In our city, name some schools with outstanding science
education programs and why do you consider them as such. Name at
least three.

REFLECTION – Compare and contrast science education in the private


and public schools in the country.
USE : One whole long-sized bond paper, Arial- 12.
DUE : After completion of this lesson.
