Bringing Grey’s to a different country is a good move because of the following advantages it
could give to the company:
 Decreased Competition – The product and services offered by RICAN Corporation may
have to compete in a crowded market here in the Philippines, but they may have less
competition in other countries since they offer a milk tea that is quite unique compared to
those offered by other milk tea shops in those countries.
 Better Risk Management – Focusing only on the domestic market may expose RICAN
Corporation to increased risk from downturns in the economy, political
factors, environmental events, and other risk factors. By expanding the market, the
corporation can mitigate potential risks in their core market.
 Enhanced Reputation - Doing business in other countries can boost RICAN
Corporation’s reputation. It can also help increase the company's credibility, both abroad
and at home.
3. What kind of corporate structure will Danny have to build in a different country?
Team-Based Corporate Structure
 This corporate structure are made of teams working towards a common goal while
working on their individual tasks.
 RICAN Corporation is less hierarchical, and they have flexible structures that reinforce
problem-solving, decision-making and teamwork.
 Team-based corporate structure have changed the way many industries work.
Globalization has allowed people in all industries around the world to produce goods and
services cooperatively.
4. What steps does he need to take to at least start smoothly?
Understand Language Barriers and Cultural Challenges
- Understanding a country’s culture is a sign of respect. It also helps to foster effective
communication which is considered as a vital factor in business success.
Leverage Influencer Relationships in Foreign Markets
- He can look for influencers in the markets the company is interested in and develop a
relationship with them well before they begin expansion.
Research Business Practices
- He must take a look at the ease of doing business index before expanding their business
abroad.
Get Legal Advice
- He need to have expertise in place to manage local business regulation. He must not wing
it alone; it is necessary to be very understanding of how things work locally in that
country.
Get the Company’s HR Team Onboard
- The company’s HR team will decide budget, accommodation, working hours, cover,
legal expenditure and most likely the marketing budget.
