Slope Map

Slope of the terrain can be perceived from the

percent slope map

Five categories of slope namely nearly level,

gentle slope, very gentle slope, moderate slope,
steep slope, and very steep slope
The slope controls the relation between the
runoff and infiltration of rainfall-water into the
underlying aquifers

Map
Land Use Land Cover-LULC

The physical characteristics of Earth's surface

The way in which land has been used

Such as agriculture, settlements, industry etc

Give Idea -Waste lands or Agricultural lands or

Forest lands..
Information about infiltration and runoff, which are
controlled by the nature of surface material

Map
Lineament Map

Underlying geological structure such faults

It is an open pathways for groundwater
migration
The highest potential for groundwater can be
expected at intersecting open joint
Contamination can take place along these
vector
Lineament controls groundwater movement and
storage

Map
Contour map

The imaginary lines having same elevations

called contour lines

contour map is very useful in knowing nature of

the terrain

also give idea about the stream order in that
area.

Map-2
Ground water Prospectus map

Give idea about the under ground water

prospectus .

Useful for effective and sustainable use of

groundwater resource.

Map
Geomorphology Map

The study of landforms, their processes at the

surface of the Earth

Landforms are produced by erosion or

deposition Most geomorphic processes operate
at a slow rate

1.Geomorphology Maps represent the observed

features of a landscape

Map
Soil Erosion map

Give idea about the soil loss.

Guide the selection of conservative practises.

Rain fall , type of soil , slope are the major

influence factors.

Map
Watershed map

Topographically defined area drained by a

stream system.

Any surface area from which runoff resulting

from rainfall is collected and drained through a
common point. .

Map
Waste land map

Wastelands area estimates have served a basis

for taking up wastelands reclamation

Identification of potential areas for agriculture /

afforestation etc. . .

Water Budgeting
The water budget should prepared based on water requirements,
run-off volumes and storage capacity. Accordingly, one can arrive
at values of deficit or surplus water and make decisions about
enhancing water harvesting capacities through MGNREGA
interventions as mandated in MWC.
Drinking Water Requirement
This information will help in the planning and maintenance of
drinking water assets and to assure the quality of water from
alternate sources for drinking, such as rain water harvesting and
surface storage.

Water Requirement for Crops (all seasons)
 The major water demanding sector is agriculture and issues related to
water resources are directly linked to cropping pattern of a particular
area.
 The crop water requirements helps us in arriving at the volume of
water utilised for irrigation purposes and defining deficiency or surplus
of storage of surface water as well as ground water recharged.
 It also indicates the nature of interventions required for bringing about
water use efficiency.
