Methodology

Research Design

This study used qualitative method of research

specifically phenomenological. The researcher used this method

because this study deals with the academic performance of

grade 7 STE students, that are good in study habits, and

especially it deals with human experiences, also it involves

topics of human and social experiences.

The researcher wants to investigate the academic

performance of grade 7 STE students using the qualitative

method of research to determine the various characteristics of

different students in the way of studying. The researcher used

this method by giving each of the respondents a questionnaire

for gathering data.

Research Environment, Population and Sample:

The study was conducted in Magallanes National High

School, located on P-6, Barangay Sto. Nino, Magallanes ADN.

Magallanes National High School is a big school and has an

exceeding population that even the classrooms are not enough

for their accommodation. That’s why there is a construction

site in front of the building. There are many classrooms

inside the school campus right now because of the newly build
building. There are four curricula, the STE, SPA, SPJ, and

RBEC, excluding the senior high school.

The respondents of this study were the grade 7 students

of STE curriculum, especially the students that are good in

study habits. The students of grade 7 STE have a total of __

students.

Sampling Technique

The researcher used probability sampling specifically

simple random sampling using the fish bowl technique. The

researcher used the probability sampling for equal chances in

the population frame of being selected. The researchers used

simple random sampling because it is easy, cheap, and very

convenient. The technique will be perfect for the study since

the population of students that are good in study habit is

vast.

Ethical Consideration

The researcher considered grade 7 STE students ages 11 to

14 for being the respondents. Even students that have health

issues are considered as long as they are good in study habit.

Instruments

Part 1, profiles of the respondents. The researcher put some

given gender, age, and grade that would be checked by the

respondents. The first part will cover the profile of each

respondent. This part has table that only is required to

answer by a check mark for the specific answers given. In part

2 there are statements that will gather most of the data that

are needed in the study, it will be answered by putting a

check mark on the blank spot that will be measured using

likert scale. This part also has some specific answers that

are needed to put a check mark.

Data Gathering

At first the researcher asked permission on the teacher

assigned that time to borrow some time for the data gathering

procedure. The researcher then asked the respondents if it is

fine for them to answer the questionnaires and then the

researcher explained the procedure in answering. Lastly, the

researcher leaves the questionnaires to the respondents to

avoid consuming the time of the teacher assigned that time and

then the researcher collected the questionnaires after the

respondents are done answering.
