“ Commit to Quit”
I- ACTIVITY TITLE
World No Tobacco Day 2021 Celebration
This is a whole week activity which is open to all bona fide
students of Buenavista National High School conducted by
the Barkada Kontra Droga – Buenavista NHS Chapter and
Adolescent Reproductive Health in collaboration with the
Training Description Supreme Student Government thru the National Drug
Education Program and Adolescent Reproductive Health.
This activity is done with minimum face-to-face interaction
and follows the minimum public health standards to ensure
the health safety of all the participants.

II- RATIONALE: The Member States of the World Health

Organization created World No Tobacco Day in 1987 to
draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and the
preventable death and disease it causes. In 1987, the
World Health Assembly passed Resolution WHA40.38,
calling for 7 April 1988 to be a "a world no-smoking day."
In 1988, Resolution WHA42.19 was passed, calling for
the celebration of World No Tobacco Day, every year on
31 May. This yearly celebration informs the public on the
dangers of using tobacco, the business practices of
tobacco companies, what WHO is doing to fight the
tobacco epidemic, and what people around the world
can do to claim their right to health and healthy living
and to protect future generations.
This year’s theme is “Commit to quit”. The
COVID-19 pandemic has led to millions of tobacco users
saying they want to quit.
This yearly celebration informs the public on the
dangers of using tobacco, the business practices of

At the end of this activity, the participants will be able to:
a. To become more actively involved in leading a healthy
lifestyle that is tobacco-free and productive during this
pandemic.
b. Enhance skills and understanding among students,
internal and external stakeholders in initiating
responses and increasing community awareness and
III- OBJECTIVES:
participation geared towards a tobacco-free school
environment and community.
c. Maintain a fully tobacco-free environment in the
school, home, workplace, community, and on the
whole world.
