My Philosophy of Education

Maddie Shiplett

My Classroom Environment

I really want my students to feel safe and comfortable in my classroom. They can be able to truly show who
they are in my class. I would express that there is no other you, so you need to be yourself! I very much would
want my class to have a family dynamic. We would play get to know you games, that are fun, so every student
gets the opportunity to tell the class about themselves!

My Ideal Classroom

My ideal classroom would be extremely colorful! I want my room to be a fun environment where students can
not only learn, but have fun in. I think that flexible seating is very important. Some kids can't learn in a simple
desk. Some like standing, some like to fidget in chairs, etc. Students should have the option to sit where they
learn best. I would like a colorful classroom, but not over the top. I don't think that anything should be
distracting. My class would be very student accessible. They should be able to turn in work on their own, grab
supplies on their own, and use a journal or notebook on their own. I think it’s important to give them the
responsibility of turning in work, and doing work on their own.

Student/Teacher Relationship

I would want to form a relationship with my students, that makes them feel safe and happy in my class. The
last thing I would want to do is make my students feel uncomfortable. Having a positive relationship with
students makes learning and teaching easier. Doing little things here and there that show them how much you
care about them, really helps to grow your relationship.

Motivating My Students

I also think that giving students motivation for not only school work is important, but also giving them the
motivation and supplies they need to be successful in life is extremely important. Showing them that you truly
care about how they do in life, makes them feel special and loved! I also don’t think it hurts to give incentives
here and there to get them motivated. Things such as candy, toys, a treasure box, etc.

My Primary Goal

I truly just want the best for my students. Going through school now, I really wish more of my teachers would
have stepped out to get to know me. Of course, I’ve had a few here and there, but none of them really got to
know me. By that I mean, just checking in with me to make sure I’m okay, asking me how my day was, or just
chatting with me. I really want to be someone who my students can open up to! I would want my students to
say that they feel like learning is easier in my class, because of how differently you learn when you are
comfortable with your teacher.
