Explain the following in your own words.

1. Is criminology an absolute science ? Why or why not?

-Yes. Because criminology is one of the social sciences which is an interdisciplinary field and it is
use of the knowledge and methods that are used by the scientific disciplines including physics
and sociology.

2. Why criminology is not a discipline in its own right?

-For me, Criminology is not a field within the discipline because of the criminal justice, when we
say criminal justice it is the field within the discipline of criminology in its scientific forms . It
should be a social science or a natural science.

3. Penology

- For me penology is the penalty charges for the person who are guilty and I think it is the study
of the principle and methods about punishments.

4.Victimology

- I think it is all about the study of victimization which includes the relationship between the
victims and offenders, the investigators and the media.
5. What are the nature of criminology? Explain each :

- The nature of criminology is, first it is social science because of crime it is a social creation that
exists in a social phenomenon, Next is the Dynamic because it is change of a social change.
Lastly is , it is Nationalistic, because of the causes of crime that must be determined from its
social needs and standards.

- Criminology truly began in Europe between the late 1700's and the early 1800's classical
school of criminology founders were theorists on crime and punishment development.
Criminology (from latin crimen ," Accusations" and Ancient Greek- logia from logos meaning;
word reason) is the study of crime and deviant behavior.

2. Who coined the term criminology in 1885?

- The term criminology was coined in 1885 by Italian law professor Raffaele Garofalo as
Criminologia.

3. Dean of the modern criminology

- Edwin H. Sutherland is the dean of modern criminology

4. First school in the Philippines who offered BS Criminology?

- The first school who offered BS Criminology is the Philippine College of Criminology in 1954, It
is the pioneer school of criminology for scientific crime detection and police science education
in the Philippines.

5.Meaning of PEACE

- It is a stress-free state of security and calmness that comes when there is fighting or war.

-It is a state of harmony within an individual or transcend across the entire society or country.
