75th Independence Day Celebration - Message

Today, we celebrate the 75th anniversary of our Independence.

On this occasion, I wish to express my warm greetings to one
and all.

Let us thank God almighty for the gift of our mother land, India
and for the innumerable blessings that we enjoy being a citizen
of this great nation. We are thankful for the fraternal love we
experience and for our rights to think, speak, and worship
freely. We are also humbled in remembering the many
courageous men and women who have served and sacrificed
throughout our history to preserve, protect, and expand these
rights.

Former President Dr.A P J Abdul Kalam, in one his address on

the occasion of Independence Day, said, “what we need for
nation building is economical growth and ethical nation”. In
other words, values and virtues play a major in nation building.
For the progress and development of a civil society human
values and professional ethics are inevitable.
People are a nation’s greatest resource. Human resource is
more valuable than land, water, minerals, mountains, forests,
or any other natural resources. In India, we have in abundance,
the human resource. If we leave this human resource
uneducated, unfocused unskilled and uninspired, we are going
to be at loss as a nation. On the contrary, if the same
population is educated, focused, skilled and inspired then, we
will have a miracle in the waiting.

“Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best
hope for the future.” says, John F. Kennedy. As teachers and
parents we are privileged to deal with such precious treasure.
When we consider children as precious and valuable, we need
to give what is due to children.
In the life of every child, three important institutions play a
crucial role in shaping its outlook and future prospects. These
are the family, the school and the community. It is these
institutions that inculcate virtues and values upon which
characters, behaviors, and general attitudes are built. The
principles, norms, beliefs, and convictions that drive our moral
and ethical behaviors of the young into a valuable adult. Thus
family, schools and communities play a vital role in nation
building by giving proper education, character formation and
value education.

Nation building does not happen with great speeches and

slogans. It happens through our commitment and dedication.
And each of us has a duty and responsibility, as citizens, as
Indians, and especially as teachers and parents to train the
young ones mind and heart with utmost sincerity and honesty.

Dear children, Bible says, “obey your parents in everything that

what pleases God”, Yes obey your parents, teachers and
elders; love everyone as your brother and sister by accepting as
they are; finally stand for truth and what is right always and
everywhere, thus you will continue to be a treasure to all.
I’d like to ask you to join me in a moment of silent prayer for
those who’ve lost their lives during the pandemic, those left
behind, and for our country.

May God bless India and may God protect our people. Thank
you.
BR Ambedkar: “Freedom of mind is the real freedom. A person
whose mind is not free though he may not be in chains, is a
slave, not a free man. One whose mind is not free, though he
may not be in prison, is a prisoner and not a free man. One
whose mind is not free though alive, is no better than dead.
Freedom of mind is the proof of one's existence.”
