Microsoft excel 2016 came with certain differences from excel 2007 such as:

appearances, colors, options, and tools.

The first interface difference that an end user will observe is on the startup screen.
When you click on the 2007 excel icon, you would see a yellow color loading box that
displays both the name of the program and the year. But when you come to the 2016,
the box has a green color showing only the name of the program.

After the loading part, 2007 will immediately take you to a selected blank spreadsheet to
do your work. However, 2016 will give you options to select a spreadsheet depending
on the activities you would like it to perform. This difference would make the latter easier
and less tiresome than the former one.

In terms of functionality, both excel programs give more or less similar functions. Both
carry the same tools on the tool bars, except one. Excel 2007 has, sequentially, Home,
Insert, Page Layout, Formulas, Data, Review, View, Acrobat tool. All these tools are
included in the Excel 2016 program and with the same sequence as in 2007, so that
users wouldn’t get confused. But this doesn’t mean that nothing in these tools are
changed in general, because certain ones do, and most of them are on the Insert tool. It
came with multiple new features like recommended charts and types of charts that
weren’t included in the 2007 excel program.

Besides these, excel 2016 came with a new tool on its tool bar which is “Tell me what
you want to do”, it makes its features and functions way more accessible since users
will search there anything they wanted to do without having to waste time looking for
them.
The last but not least difference, as observed by us, is on their design. Icon designs on
the excel 2007 are less catchy than that of excel 2016. Microsoft excel 2016 has a more
tempting and professional designs.

Thus, we can conclude that Microsoft excel 2016 is a more user-friendly and convenient
interface to use as it comes with modern designs and functions that would make end
users do their task here more efficiently while they enjoy doing it.
