Pearl Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District Special Meeting May 26, 2012

Chairman Steve Koivula called the Pearl Lake PRD May 26, 2012 meeting to order. The Pledge of
Allegiance was given. PRD officers were introduced, also attending were Town of Leon Officers Chris
Sorenson, Russ Manske, and Russ Heise, Sheriff Dave Peterson, and Joe Pieckowski of the Lake
Management District.

Sec'y minutes of the September 2011 meeting were read. Motion by Mike Getchius to accept as read,
second by Chuck Johannes, passed by majority voice vote. Dave Paulick read the treasurer's report in
place of Mark Leissring. Checking account balance of $793.95, water quality fund $57,210.78, both
accounts as of May 25, 2012. Both were accepted as given.

Patrick Nehring of the DNR spoke on the lake's invasive species and water quality. Silver Lake has zebra
mussels which not much can be done about them. The virus VHS is present in the Pine River. Cleaning of
boats when taking out of the lake is needed. Anyone interested in this can attend a workshop (approx 3

Fish report: Shelly Tobiasz reported in the May 15th fish survey. Vern Bertzyk stated the fish committee
was not notified of the date the survey would be done. The blue gill population is down somewhat from
the 2004 survey but not enough to warrant stocking at this time. The bass population is abundant but
are small size.

The lake is in need of habitat improvement. There is a program called Tree Drop which will be discussed
at the June 30th meeting. Chuck Johannes is taking the Secci disk readings and recording in place of Glen
Anderson. The overall lake quality is good.

Obtrusive lights around the lake were discussed. More on this at the July (June 30) meeting.

Loud boat noise can be reported to the DNR tip line.

Volunteers are needed for auditing the PRD financial accounts and for the nominating committee.

Motion made ny Nona Koivula for adjournment, was seconded and passed by majority voice note.
