Description: Key topics covered by the course include unemployment, growth, money and business cycles.
The theoretical focus of the course is building basic macroeconomics models from microeconomics principles.
The ultimate goal is to evaluate the impact of various macroeconomics policies using a unified equilibrium
framework which comprises the labour, goods, and monetary markets.

Prerequisites: It should be stressed that this course builds on the concepts developed in ECON 303.
An understanding of ECON 303 is assumed. Also, we will spend significant time on revising the models
seen in ECON 303.

Textbook: The required textbook is Stephen D. Williamson ”Macroeconomics” (Custom edition for Con-
cordia University), Pearson, Addison-Wesley

Office Hours: Office hours are not recorded, optional take place online. As with traditional on-campus
office hours, you are received on a first-come, first-served basis and not by appointment. You sit in a virtual
waiting room until the instructor is ready to admit you. If you use the opportunity, you are expected to
arrive prepared (ie, your questions ready) and to be efficient so that the maximum number of students can
make use of the available time.

Class Behaviour: It is expected that all students conduct themselves in such a manner as to not interfere
with the educational experience of another student. Please keep in mind that your fellow student’s learning
style, tolerance for chatter, or necessary conditions for concentratin may differ from your own. Therefore,
there will be a zero tolerance policy for any disruptive interference.

Evaluation: There will be two midterm exams and one final exam. Each exam will be a 24 hours
long take-home exam.. You will be asked to upload your solutions on Moodle The weights of
the different assessments are shown below. If a student misses a midterm exam, the weight of this exam
will be transferred to that of the final exam
