SALUTE!

As the DepEd Mission goes, the students learn in a child friendly, gender-sensitive, safe and
motivating environment. Safe. It is the school´s duty to guard the student´s physique, mentality and
importantly their health.

Hospitals have doctors and schools have teachers, with the DOH and the DepEd´s project fusion
for students, teachers have to add one more role into their vocabulary. The teachers now became
nurses.

I salute them, they stand as mothers/fathers, friends and lights to shine our path. They foster
children´s talents and skills, nurture their brains, and help protect children´s health.

The teachers stand as the foundation of a child. So for me, schools are nothing without teachers.
They do everything, thus, they also have to rest their exhausted bodies. Programs that protect and
ensure the teacher´s wellbeing must also be prioritized and raised.
DENGVAXIA CONCERNS

Dengvaxia made a big boom this early 2018 in harming the children´s health. This main reason
why the vaccination rate for students lowered. They are more than terrified that another dengvaxia
might once again befall.

On an interview with the Nurse II, Health unit, DepEd Calapan City, Lawrence Sevegan stated
that the biggest struggle that they´re currently facing is the school based immunization program.
Because of the chaos that dengvaxia made people became reluctant on accepting any kind of vaccines.

One must see to get the rightful vaccines to ensure their health. The only way to solve this is to
further elucidate the situation and give clarifications about the issue. DOH should educate and inform
that one vaccine can´t delineate all, one mistake doesn´t define the whole.
