Quiz
1. How do the differences in ultrastructures of plant cells and animal cells affect
their living processes such as how they obtain energy and locomotion?
[6 marks]
In animal cell, the structure that would be used for locomotion would actually be cilia
and flagellum. Flagellum is a little tail that can make they move and cilia is a
shorthair like while plant cell they do not have any locomotion. They are not capable
to move.
2. Elaborate how mitosis and meiosis in a lizard result in differences in the daughter
cells produced in term of number of cells and genetic composition. [4
marks]
In mitosis, diploid cells are divided into two new diploid cells, while in meiosis, diploid
cells are divided into four haploid cells. The daughter cells produced by mitosis are
identical, while the daughter cells produced by meiosis are different because
crossing over has occurred.
