ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOUR – II

ASSIGNEMENT ON CASE STUDY

1) Analyse Kamta Prasad’s leadership style and where he went wrong, in view of the situational
theory of leadership?

Kamta Prasad had a paternal style of leadership. He believed in taking up all major tasks on
himself and hardly delegated any. He would also closely monitor everything the employees did.
This approach of his worked fine when his business was small and had only a few employees.
But soon as his business began to grow, he had employed departmental heads that were
experts in their respective fields.
Kamta Prasad continued the same style of leadership while dealing with the newly hired
departmental heads. This in my opinion was what went wrong.

2) Using your knowledge of leadership theories, recommend a solution to solve the problem at
Tongue Teasers.
Ideally, Kamta Prasad should have adapted to the new situation and altered his way of
leadership. He should have provided greater autonomy and the space that the departmental
heads deserve. By doing so, the newly hired heads would feel that they are being trusted, which
will boost their morale and in turn increase their productivity.

In the case of highly competent and self-motivated employees a leader should play a
supportive role rather than an autocratic one.
