1. How could OPM3 have helped to identify the problems with implementing the demand
planning system?

OPM3 helped identify the problems with the demand planning system by helping NIKE
identify and deliver the right projects, improved project performance and return on
investment, aligns the organization strategy with the projects that sustains business success
and minimize operating cost by making sure that the project is aligned to the business
strategy.

2. What were the three primary reasons Nike was successful with the ongoing ERP
implementation?

The three primary reasons Nike was successful with their ongoing EPR implementation are:
First, being patience in regards to the implementation and learning from their mistakes.
Second, they have increased the training to users as well as making sure that they do not have
access to the system until they have completed their training.
Third, they used business process re-engineering effectively to clarify performance-based
goals as well as implementation.

3. Why was a phased rollout the correct decision for Nike?

Phased rollout is a gradual movement of the company from the existing legacy system(s) to
the new ERP implementation. This rollout was a correct decision for Nike because it is the
lease disruptive to the company and because the single-instance ERP system and supply
chain plan differed from the demand planning system. It was easier to manage doing it
through phase rollout.
