The provided maps display how the center of Islip transformed, by providing how it looked in two

different years - 2010 and 2015.

Overall, noticeable changes were made to Frenton in the 5-year period, with the reconstruction of a ring
road and the supplement of some buildings being the principal modifications.

In 2010, a main road ran through Islip’s centre from east to west which served all road users , but it was
restricted to pedestrian only in 2015. Traffic will be diverted on to a dual carriageway that will form a
ring around the town centre.
What was formerly a row of shops located along the north side of the main road was reconstructed to
make way for a bus station, shopping centre, car park and new housing area. The shops along the south
side of the street remained untouched, while it seems that the town’s park was substantially resized for
the development of a new housing area.
