Part one Reading:
A/ Comprehension: Read the text carefully then do the activities
According to Alfred Nobel's will, the Peace Prize is to be given to individuals
and institutions that have done the best work for fraternity between nations, for the
abolition of armies and for the promotion of peace congresses."  However there have
been instances where the prize's recipient reveals the Committee to be short-
sighted.
A previous Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi is an example of the
Committee’s carelessness. She is the current leader of the Myanmar government and
has been criticised for failing to speak out against the army genocide of the Rohingya
(a Muslim minority). Many people demanded the withdrawal of Aung Suu Peace Prize.
“The rules”, As the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize Committee declared: “do not allow
for the Prize to be withdrawn” and added that San Suu Kyi was awarded for her past
achievements. If that was the case why would Shimon Peres win the Peace Prize
(1993) after committing crimes against Palestinian citizens (1966) and being the
leader of Israel’s nuclear weapons program (1953-1965).
Those cases of the non deserving winners of the Nobel Peace Prize are among a
