Complete the following table and use the attached graphs to plot the performance of the first option for each
trainer. For example, With the Imperial HT Pump trainer, measure values and perform calculations for both
heating and cooling mode; but only plot the performance on the graphs of the heating mode. Do not perform
the calculations or plot the performance of the Ductless system.

PSIA = PSIG + 14.7

Temperature of refrigerant in Evaporator is based on Pressure or vaporization. Obtained from pressure

gauges or tables

Temperature of refrigerant in Condenser is based on Pressure of condensation. Obtained from pressure

gauges or tables

Superheat on low side is the difference between temperature entering the Compressor and temperature in
Evaporator

Superheat on the high side is the difference between temperature exiting the Compressor and temperature in
Condenser

Sub cooling is difference between temperature in Condenser and temperature entering expansion device

Cooling Capacity of the system = Refrigerant Effect x Flow Rate x 60 min/hr = (h2 – h1) x Flow x 60

Colling capacity in Tons = Cooling Capacity/ 12,000

COP = RE/HC = (h2 – h1)/ (h3 – h2)

EER = COP x 3.414

Compression ratio = P high/ P low
