Course Introduction

• 1.The basic Mandarin course is for absolute beginners.


• 2. The course is provided one time per week
• 3. You will finish this book one and two-thirds of the next book,
16 chapters in total
• 4. You will study Pinyin, daily Chinese words & expressions, and
189 basic characters
• 5.There will be a quiz per week , a test every four chapters and
a final exam
• 6. if you are absent more than 4 times or late more than 6
times you will be disqualified from the final exam
• 7.Your final grade will be based on 4 parts:

• The neutral tone are some syllables pronounced


both shortly and lightly in Mandarin Chinese.

• 1.Where do we put a tone mark?
(1) A tone mark must be put above a vowel.
