Mnemonics is one of the fun
ways of learning how to spell
tricky words.

• Because: Big elephants can always


understand small elephants.
• Does: Daddy only eats sandwiches.
Sounding and Spelling
• Sounding builds the foundation for
reading and writing unknown words.
• Spelling using letter names help
children to spell tricky words such as,
‘she’ instead of shee, consonant and
vowel sounds (soft ‘s’ sentence, sit,
egg, head..) and digraphs with the
alternatives (eg.tie, high).
