Unit 6 - I Love My Neighborhood
Unit 6 - I Love My Neighborhood
I love my neighborhood
TEXT
Zudi Saide is ten years old. She is from South Africa. She is very smart and she always wants to
learn more. She never has bad grades on tests. She has History homework from school. She
interviews her uncle, Ekon, about his neighborhood. Read it.
Uncle Ekon: Ok, dear. It is my pleasure to help you. What are the
questions?
Zudi Saide: The first one is: Do you live in a modern or old
neighborhood?
Uncle Ekon: Yes, it is. There are two parks. Lots of people have gardens with lots of flowers. The air
is clean, different from your neighborhood. It is much polluted.
Zudi Saide: Yes, my father says there is lots of pollution around our house. Are there stores, banks,
supermarkets, and schools near your house?
Uncle Ekon: There aren’t any banks or stores. But there is a supermarket next to my house. I don’t
go far to buy food. There is also a very good school behind the supermarket.
Uncle Ekon: Yes, sweetie. I love my neighborhood because it is quiet. I hate noisy places. It is safe. I
am happy I don’t live in a dangerous area of the city. I also have many friends around me. It is easy
to meet them.
