Open basket weave Heel lock 3 strips (2 medial:1lateral)

Indication: for acute ankle sprain c swelling -1 medial strips (for support only)–how: from
anterior shin to medial malleolus to cross behind
Use: promote stability (restrict/prevent inversion); achilles tendon towards lateral then under the heel c
promote lymphatic drainage for the swelling tension toward medial then end on medial aspect of
Tape c foot in neutral shin

Anchor above malleolus – open on middle area for -2 lateral strips (to prevent calcaneal inversion)
drainage –how: from anterior shin to lateral malleolus to cross
behind Achilles tendon towards medial then under the
Anchor on the metatarsal head – open on middle area heel c tension towards lateral then end on lateral aspect
for drainage of shin

Stirrup from medial to lateral with tension going to Closing strips on all the areas that are not covered
lateral to prevent inversion; start at metatarsal heads
towards the heel ( distal to proximal to promote Figure of 8 (1-2 strips to close everything; medial to
drainage of the swelling) lateral)

-u shaped that passes under plantar aspect of How: from middle of 2 malleoli go medial
foot and heel towards metatarsal head to cross under plantar aspect
of foot (where metatarsal heads are) c tension towards
Horse shoe from medial to lateral with normal tension lateral (parang u shaped yung dating), then back to

back to where you started (parang umikot sa tibia).

To test: plantarflex and invert
Alternate stirrup-heel lock-stirrup-heel lock and so on…
until u cover the whole foot except the middle part (for Anti-pronation
lymphatic drainage of the swelling)
Indication: foot pain d/t pronation of the foot
Closing strips on the middle area where it opens, on the
site of anchor above the medial malleolus and on the Use: to prevent pronation of the foot (heel goes
metatarsal heads on the site of anchor. Make sure to eversion) through calcaneal inversion (tape towards
still not close the middle part for drainage inversion)

to test: try to invert tape the foot in supination

Prophylactic taping anchor on the metatarsal heads

Indication: for chronic or recurrent ankle sprain heel lock

Use: for stability to prevent plantar flexion & inversion -how: from dorsal aspect of 1st metatarsal head
of the foot horizonally towards Achilles tendon crossing it going
under the plantar area of the foot towards metatarsal
position the foot in dorsiflexion and eversion head where you started (2 -3 strips c tension on all
parts)
Anchor above malleolus and metatarsal heads
Lock on medial longitudinal arch and on the metatarsal
Stirrup from medial to lateral c tension to prevent ankle

inversion 2-3 strips
To test: try to weight bear – if pain decreases taping is then down the plantar aspect of foot towards 5 th
good metatarsal where you started -2-3 strips as needed

Low- dye Put constant tension on all strips except anchor and
closing
Indication: pain d/t flat foot
Closing strip on metatarsal heads where you anchored
-to support the arch of the foot – increases medial
longitudinal arch To test: try to step- pain should decrease on heel area

Foot in neutral Overactive traps taping

No anchor Indication: upper traps pain

Horse shoe from medial to lateral c slight tension only - Use: to deload/ compress traps

good Indication: pain when flexing the trunk at lower back
Plantar fascitis Use: for postural awareness- to keep trunk in extension
-indication: heel pain usually on the medial area of heel Anchor horizontally on low back, crossing the spine (one
