PREFACE

This portfolio contains the work I have done in the subject

culminating activities under Ms. Analyn Amogan, which is composed of
action plan, concept paper, insights and project proposal.

PHILIPPINE POLITICS AND GOVERNANCE

Philippine politics and governance is a course which provides an
introduction to concepts used in study of political actors, structures,
processes, and outcome. This course ultimately provides students with
tools to study and critique the Philippine state, its constitution, governance,
cultures and realities.
As to learning Government” and “Governance” are interchangeably
used, both denoting the exercise of authority in an organization, institution
or state. Politics is the art of government, the exercise of control within the
society through the making and enforcement of collective decisions.

MENTAL HEALTH
Our mental health determines how we think, feel and act. Good mental
health is when you feel positive about ourselves and cope well with the
everyday pressures. If you experience issues dealing with everyday
problems, it could be a sign of a mental health problem and should be
addressed immediately.

This subject is designed to provide you the opportunities to integrate

different learning areas in the HUMANITIES and SOCIAL SCIENCES through a
creative CULMINATING ACTIVITY. It focuses on the exhibitions/exhibits of
authentic products and performances as evidence of your learning in the
humanities and social sciences.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation and gratitude the invaluable
help of the following persons:

MRS. ANALYN M. AMOGAN our subject teacher, culminating activity teacher for
giving the opportunity to participate on this project, and for guiding us and pursue us to
finish this module.

MR. GEORGE C. API-IT our senior high school assistant school principal II, for
giving us guidance and encouragement us in completing the requirements.

I also wish to thank my family and friends as an inspiration and understand us

they were robbed of many precious moments as I looked ourselves in my rooms when
my minds went prolific and my hands itched to write.

And finally, I thank Almighty God, the source of all knowledge, understanding
and wisdom. From him we owe all that I have and all that I am!

Once again, I thank all those who have encourage and helped me in preparing
this module for publication and who have extended us much understanding, patience,

STUDENT’S PRAYER

God of wisdom,
We thank you for all the gifts you have given us throughout this school
year.
We praise you for giving us life, for saving us in depression due to hardship
and stress from our modules.

As we come to the end of this school year, we voice our gratitude for the
good things you have done in us, and we praise you for all who have shared
in the work of this school.

We ask you to bless our teachers and family who sacrificed everything and
give us time to help us in times of hardship we’ve been through, that even
in the nighttime they sacrificed their selves to make our modules and
helped us.

We want to thank you for your guidance that we are safe from this covid-19
virus and we thank you for helping us that we reach until the end of this
modules.

We praise you, God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns
forever and ever.

AMEN.
STUDENT’S PHILOSOPHY

The whole people must take upon themselves the education of the
whole people, and must be willing to bear the expense of it, “[John] Adams
wrote. “there should not be a district of one mile square, without a school
in it, not founded by a charitable individual, but maintained at the public
expense of the people themselves.”

My philosophy, as a student development professional, I will meet

the needs, goals, and objectives of the diverse student learners in our
academic community through a student-centered focus. There would be
many people that have similar philosophy on life but none of them would
be exactly the same. I will share my ideas and thoughts on what is my
philosophy of life. The way has experience life has made me change my way
thinking more than once, am sure it will change again.

What is my purpose in life? What is anybody's purpose in life? That's

a question that we all deal with, why are we here, what is the point of life?
There is the thought that are purpose of life only known by God. That he
has chosen it for before we were ever born, and that part of the reason is
to be here for someone else. If I would have asked this questions three four
years ago I would have answered with, I have no idea. Back then I really had
known idea why am here, or what am supposed to be doing. It seems that
all I cared about was to go party.

I didn't worry about trying to get promoted or move up, that's what
must soldiers strive for. I basically was just trying to skate through life.
Things changed in my life that I will get into later. I am choosing HUMSS; so
all the social science courses I have taken have led me to believe that science
is the answer. However, after taking this course I have realized that science
can only take their answers just so far. There are some issues that science is
unable to explain, like the existence of God. This is where philosophy enters.
Philosophy continues further and attempts to give us logical explanations.
Although science does continue to intrigue me, I do choose to accept that
science does give us some answers. We learn from experience.

GENERAL REFLECTION

To do this work/assessment I had to use my intrapersonal skills to accurately

fill out the organizational skills quiz and to complete the action plan, concept
paper, insights and the project proposal. This took my knowledge of what I’ve
done in the past and also how I want in the future. I had to remember not only
what I did or how I felt, but also why I did or felt these things. To fill out the
activities that were given, I needed to use my intrapersonal skills to look at
different activities and correctly chose things that related to me personally.

I then had to take information’s and figure out what may be cause of my
stress, and use prior knowledge on stress and material learned from the given
activities. I learned a lot about my organizational skills, and time management in
making this activities synthesizing the knowledge and skills acquired throughout
the program.

I also learned that students share the product or result of their investigation,
receive feedback, and celebrate their learning. Students are actively involved in
the planning of the culmination. They decide what to make, how to present the
information and who to invite. Instead of taking a test that asks them to recall
information, they are synthesizing ideas and building on what they’ve learned to
create something new. Students demonstrate their learning with either a product,
performance or presentation. Allowing the students to choose how and what they
will present, gives teachers the opportunity to assess the learning preferences of
their students as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Presenting information
to others is motivating for students and can take learning deeper. As students
review what they have learned and done, they remember experiences, synthesize
information and determine which aspects are the most important to share with
others. They must also create and follow a plan. While this may seem like a simple
skill, it is not one that is innate in many children. They are by nature impulsive. To
ask them to slow down, create a plan, and then follow through on the plan is a
skill that must be taught.

Culminating activity also provide an opportunity for teamwork and

collaboration. Students must learn to work together to accomplish goals. Each
child will have a certain role during the culmination, one child cannot do
everything, and so children must analyze themselves to determine what they are
most interested in and what role to take in presenting it. Not all students’ ideas
are feasible. They must determine what can be accomplished and cannot.
Students must also learn to weigh conflicting ideas and choose one to move
forward with instead of trying everyone’s ideas. This requires the ability to let go
of one’s own ideas and to consider the perspective of others.

RESEARCH TOPIC: Philippine politics and governance
JUSTIFICATION:
Philippines take place in an organized framework of
a presidential, representative, and democratic republic whereby the president is
both the head of state and the head of government within a plexiform multi-party
system. This system revolves around three separate and sovereign yet
interdependent branches: the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the
judicial branch. Executive power is exercised by the government under the
leadership of the president. Legislative power is vested in both the government and
the bicameral Congress: the Senate (the upper house) and the House of
Representatives (the lower house). Judicial power is vested in the courts with
the Supreme Court of the Philippines as the highest judicial body.
Local government is produced by local government units from the
provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays. While most regions do not have
political power and exist merely for administration purposes, autonomous regions
have expanded powers more than the other local government units. While local
government units enjoy autonomy, much of their budget is derived from
allocations from the national government, putting their true autonomy in doubt.
OBJECTIVES:
 To contribute to the enhancement of national security and the
protection of the territorial integrity and national sovereignty;
 To participate in the national endeavor to sustain development and to
enhance the Philippines' competitive edge in a global milieu;
 To protect the rights and promote the welfare of Filipinos overseas
and to mobilize them as partners in national development;
 To project a positive image of the Philippines;
 To increase international understanding of Philippine culture for
mutually-beneficial relations with other countries; and,
 To increase and maximize human, financial, technological and other
resources to optimize the performance of the Department.

MATERIALS AND METHOD:

 Services related to business and trade registration, business tax,
banking and assistance, product monitoring and complaints
 Services on how to avail certificates, IDs, licenses, clearances, and
other government documents and records
 Services related to contributions, pensions, benefits, and other social
services
 Services on weather and disaster management, and complaints related
to it
 Services on enrollment and registration, financial assistance and
scholarship, online courses, research and extension, and complaints
about the education system
 Services related to employment requirements, professional
development and eligibility, job opportunities, and job-related

PROJECT PROPOSAL
I. TITLE: mental health (self-awareness)
II. PROJECT PROPOSAL: students
III. TARGET DATE/DURATION: the target date of this activity is May 15-19, 2021
which will be a one-week activity
IV. TRAINING PARTICIPANTS:
A total number of 100 students will be actively involved in the seminar. It
includes the parents of students involved in the seminar, 20 students per Sitio will be
having seminar but limited due to COVID-19 pandemic.
V. RATIONALE:
A significant positive development in the mental health field is growing
recognition that a diagnosis of mental illness is not a life sentence to an incurable
condition that invariably will have only negative consequences for a person's life course.
This was the view that, until recently, was commonly held by many consumers, their
families and clinicians. While the onset of mental illness is undoubtedly a serious life
event, many people who have experienced mental illness live full and meaningful lives:
some remain symptom free after their first episode, while others adapt to the symptoms
that they recurrently experience. It is now recognized that it is not inevitable that a first
episode will lead to further illness and that even when further episodes do occur, it is not
necessary for such illness to put an end to the positive aspects of life.
VI. TRAINING OBJECTIVE/S:
Raise awareness about the mental health continuum, reduce stigma associated
with mental illness, promote help seeking behaviors and emotional well-being practices,
and provide suicide through individual education and outreach events.
VII. TRAINING METHOD/ STRATEGIES: The training will be at barangay hall at 8:00

PERFORMANCE TASK

I. TITLE: beautification of Barangay Bahong

II. PROJECT PROPOSAL: all residents of barangay Bahong
III. TARGET DATE/DURATION: the target date of this activity is June 10-15, 2021
which will be a 6 days’ activity.
IV. TRAINING PARTICIPANTS:
A total number of 100 participants will be actively involved in the beautification.
It includes the barangay officials involved in the beautification, per residents will be
cleaning their own area that can help the officials.
V. RATIONALE:
We used to have fresh air to breath, greenish surroundings and taste clear
and clean water. Nowadays, tables have turned and we can see a big difference
from a clean into a polluted environment. As we all know, we are facing a lot of
environmental issues such as floods, climate change, melting of the polar ice caps
and pollution. May it be from air, water or land. The main cause of these
problems are the wastes that are improperly thrown.
VI. TRAINING OBJECTIVE/S:
Restore what was lost, we aim for the surrounding that’s greenish and full of
grasses and tall trees. Those grasses that have turned into cemented roads, those trees that
are placed on such a beautiful area have turned into enormous buildings. Deforestation is
the main cause of this, people who illegally cut down trees just for their own convenience
mostly results landslide. These trees can prevent floods, it can fight against global
warming, so if people continue to do the same thing all over again, it would disturb the
balance of its system, causing so much loss not just with our environment but also with
our way of living.
VII. TRAINING METHOD/ STRATEGIES: The beautification will be at barangay Bahong
at 8:00 am which includes snacks and lunch. All residents will be participating including
the youths.

CULMINATING ACTIVITY

ACTION PLAN
INSIGHTS

During my culminating activity, I feel pressured and aggressive. I don’t

know what comes first and how will I do it without any stress and pressure. I try
to motivate myself, I make myself relaxed and I just went out to unwind myself.
When I got home, I try to ask for help from my family and they came to help and
they always check me out either I’m fine or not.

For me as a student, it gains a number of important skills by participating in

the process such as leadership, communication, project management, time
management, group skills, negotiation skills, meeting deadlines, conflict
management, public speaking, presentation skills, and self-motivation.
It is important because in the activity you can show what are the
knowledge you learned and skills that was improved and earned. It is also a way
to share to other those things you acquired. The requirement is an effort to
increase the education standards. As a student and the workplace require more
from their recruits, nationwide high schools must also. In an effort to be clear, it is
restated that the culminating project is not required by all schools. Again, parents
and guardians would have to check with the student’s school official website for
graduation requirements. However, for me as student are required to complete a
culminating project, this is a chance for the student to explore a topic of personal
interest. The project provides an opportunity that student may not have
otherwise. By completing the project, students have a real life experience that
can help them in their next adventure in life (college, job, entrepreneurship,
military, internship, etc.).

In all honesty I was overly motivated when the course started (intrinsically
motivated). Motivation is another aspect that influences learning outcomes. I
really appreciate the things I have rediscovered and uncovered in learning about
motivational theories. In a way, it had influenced me as much as challenging the
previous notions I have regarding what motivates a person.
