Abstract

This research study was conducted to determine the level and frequency
of using information and communication technology in classroom and academic
performance of the Junior High Schools students in the District of Malay, Aklan
during the school year 2016-2017. This study utilized the descriptive-
correlational method. The respondents were 356 randomly selected junior high
school students in the district of Malay, Aklan, Philippines. The instrument used
to gather the needed data and information was a questionnaire. The statistical
tools used to analyzed and interpret the gathered data were frequency count,
percentage, mean, t-test, F-test and Pearson Product Moment Correlation
Coefficient. Result revealed that respondents were composed of females
belonging to the highest age bracket and currently enrolled in Grade 7 and
Grade 8. ICT gadgets were becoming very handy to students with cell phone as
being the most accessible. The level of ICT integration by teachers in classes was
low. There was no significant difference in the level of ICT integration by the
teachers when grouped according to profile. The frequency of ICT integration
during classes was low. There was no significant difference in the frequency of
ICT integration when grouped as to profile. The extent of using ICT in assessing
student learning was low. Significant difference existed in the use of ICT in
student assessment when respondents were grouped according to grade level.
The students have a proficient average grades. There was a significant
difference in the average grades of students when respondents were grouped
according to profile. There was no significant relationship existed between the
level of ICT integration by teachers and students’ average grades. There was no
significant relationship existed between the frequency of ICT integration by
teachers and students’ average grades.
