“A STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF MODIFIED TEACHING STRATEGIES ON SOCIAL

WORK STUDENTS IN MSU MAIN CAMPUS, MARAWI CITY”

Statement of the Problem

The Pandemic has generated changes in the teaching-learning process in higher education

institutions and has influenced the interaction between teachers and students. As a consequence

of the pandemic, universities were constrained to carrying out their activity with students

exclusively online. Most of the educational institutions are exploring and approaching towards e-

learning to make it easy for students to work out at new normal. Also, various e-teaching

software are being explored by teachers or educators to bring maximum possible ease for their

students. As a matter of fact, as this e-learning wave is a recent development, teachers as well as

students are in the process of adapting this new teaching and learning methodology. At this

prevailing situation of virtual teaching and setting of new normal of teaching-learning

methodology, it becomes all more important to get to know the opinion of learners and to

explore learners’ inclination towards these teaching strategies on students.

This study aims to examine the effect of the modified teaching strategies on social work students

in MSU Main Campus, Marawi City.

1. What are the effects of modified teaching strategies on the students of MSU-Main

Campus?

2. What are the effective teaching strategies for social work students in MSU-Main

strategies considering their profiles?

This study analyzed the relationship of teaching strategies of the teachers in Social Work to

the variation of scores in Social work subjects achievement test of Social work College

learners from Mindanao State University SY 2021- 2022 taking into consideration their

demographic profile on age sex, and average family monthly income. Figure 1 indicates the

research paradigm of the study. As shown, there are two variables involved, the independent

and the dependent variables. The independent variables are the Teaching Styles, and

the respondents demographic profile which includes the respondents age, sex, and average

family monthly income .On the other hand, the dependent variable is the variation of

achievement test scores in terms of macro skills. Furthermore, this study explores as to what

approaches, methods and techniques in terms of the competencies and skills reflected in the

curriculum guide would need enhancement from their strategies either asynchronous or

synchronous, or the collaboration of both. The findings of this study will serve as basis for an

effective and relevant teaching strategy for Social Work students of Mindanao State University.
