Experience: Featured Activity (title and overview of activity/program plan, materials needed, set-up time): Solid or Liquid: 1 cup cornstarch, ½ cup plus 2 tbsp
water. Youth will learn about non-Newtonian fluids. They will create Oobleck, a type of non-Newtonian liquid. A non-Newtonian liquid is one that does not
follow Newton’s law of viscosity (constant viscosity independent of stress). For example, ketchup becomes runnier when shaken, and that makes it a non-
Newtonian liquid. Some other examples are honey, paint, melted butter, and shampoo.
