QUESTIONS:

1. Tell me about yourself.


- My name is Dhesserie Paglinawan, I used to call DHESS. I am a person who always focuses
on how to help a person, team or even an organization. I tend to say that as a teacher by
profession and a former president of an organization. I also have these characteristics
wherein I am extremely motivated and passionate on whatever I intend to do.
2. Why do you want to become a trainer?
- I want to be a trainer because the role is one that I am extremely passionate about, it is a
role I get to make a positive difference in on a daily basis, and I get lots of job satisfaction
from helping people to achieve their goals and objectives.
3. What makes you motivated?
- Being the breadwinner of the family, you always aim on what’s best for your family. I keep
being motivated for making my family my biggest inspiration in life. I tend to work hard for
them to give the life they deserved.
4. What are your strength and weakness?
- I think my strength aside from having experience and background in teaching, having
ADEQUATE understanding of our work load and ethics is one of my many strengths since
I’ve already worked in a BPO for almost 2 years. Well, being able to execute well my job
understanding is something I believe my edge. Although I also consider it as my weakness
knowing that I'm a person who don't settle for just adequate. I always aim for excellence. In
whatever I chose to do I make sure I look for my best potential.
5. What challenges do you think you will face in this role and how will you overcome it?
- I think one of the challenges that I will encounter are those people that will intend to
question my capabilities especially the tenured ones. Maybe for some, this is not a big deal
but since this is the first time, I will be going to handle most of the trainees that are older
than me. I really need to have some adjustments and different ways on how I will handle
them.
6. Please describe an area that you feel requires additional growth.
- Since I’m more familiar into traditional way of teaching. I need to find and learn more ways to
improve the new way of teaching-learning style that we are now using such as Microsoft excel
and power point. I can make some but not totally as creative as what the others do.
7. Tell me about a time when you had to motivate someone or a team.
- This happens recently, one of the new hires questioned her ability because of her age and
she thinks she cannot go with the changes and updates rapidly. And as one of the tenured
who assisted her, I feel how anxious is she so I ask her and she tell her things that makes her
worried. I gave her some wisdom words and remind that everyone comes from a scratch. I
also gave her notes for her to make it as a guide on her calls whenever I’m also onset of the
call. And also, I told her that whenever she needs help either as a co-worker or a friend, I’ll
be one chat away. And with the result, I’m proud to say that she passes all her QA calls and
she kept on give thanks on me. And I’m really happy with that.
8. What skills do you bring to this role?
- I do have a strong-interpersonal communication skills and know how to handle and deal with
different kind of people and circumstances.
9. Tell me about initiatives you have taken to improve procedures at work? Were you
successful? Would you do anything different now?
- Well, I believe that we don’t grow when things are easy, we grow when we face challenges.
And I remembered the moment I volunteered as an SME (Subject matter expert) on our team
and I think I was successful being on that position since I don’t let our team to outdated and not
be informed about the different ways or techniques. I always check on them and If I was asking
if I need to make some difference before and for now, I would say no like what I’m saying earlier
in everything I do I exert extreme effort and passion but in this case there’s a different
application or ways since this not the same responsibilities.

10. Tell me about a time when you tried to solve a problem with ideas and methods that had
never been tried before.

- In the amidst of the global health crisis that we are facing now, we consider ourselves as a
front liner and we don’t know if we already carry the virus. And in my case, I’m with my
family living in a small roof and both of my mom and sister has an asthma so they need to
have triple protection against the virus but since we only have a small house, I cannot
isolate myself and try not to be with them around our house. I think of a solution that will
give us an extreme adjustment. We decided to separate homes, they went to our province
and stay there for good so we or they can settle in a place that has fresh air, food and a safe
environment. I left here in manila alone while working and just go home every weekends. I
can’t imagine that I will be experiencing that situation since before I’m afraid to be far with
my mom.

11. How would you handle an employee who doesn’t think your training sessions are necessary?
- Whenever a situation or scenario occurs like this, I will take the time to listen to their
concerns before addressing each of them with facts and evidence that the training or this
kind of discussion is hugely beneficiary by getting the learner involved in the training session
and by making him feel valued, I was able to win him over and convince him how effective
the training or the discussion is.

12. How would you identify the training needs of our company?
- . Gather info for both employee and management. Make some solutions. Example is the
refresher training that wend to do for the employee to maintain the engagement of the
product knowledge that the client or the company wants.

13. Have you ever tried a new way of doing things? Tell me about it and did you succeed?
- Besides of having a work in a BPO industry, I start to open a mini coffee shop in front of our
house just to support my family’s daily expenses. I think of a coffee shop since me and my
family is a coffee lover. But as time goes by, I didn’t expect that a lot of customers would
love our products. And now, we are preparing for the upcoming branch that will be open
here at McKinley. And I think this is a small win in my life that I feel I succeed.
14. Tell me what behaviors of others or scenarios get you down? How do you typically respond
when this happens?
- Crab-mentality by a friend or sometimes a family member. Truly it hurts me every
time it happens but I’m already used to it. And I don’t have anything to do with it,
that’s their choice. And what I focus is my personal growth. Like what others are
saying, mind your own business.

15. Give me an example of a time when you tried your best to work with someone, but the
problems remained. What did you learn from that situation?
- I have an experience with my previous co-worker, she doesn’t accept any ideas or thoughts
from me or from others. She tends to see herself maybe a perfect one. She always tried to
argue about her thought that needs to be addressed. I always tried to be calmed and let her
speak and after that I’ll present or explain the more necessary information that everyone
needs to follow and what is good for everyone. I learned on that situation or from that
person to have longer patience. And to understand what the person really wants.

16. How was your performance measured in your previous position?


- I believe that I always do my best and that’s the reason why I’m here. My TL, MC and of
course PLV sees a potential in me and I’m very thankful that they supported me throughout
this. Of course, if there’s a good time there is a bad times so when it happens, I always go
back to the reason why am I here and for whom. So, after having some self-reassess I’m able
to go back on track and hit my target every month.

17. HS, what is your dream and how did you intend to manage changes?
- My dream was to become a doctor, physician to be exact but however we are not a rich so
we decided to be practical. My parents encourage me to get the course of Education and I
didn’t regret that I listened to them especially to my mom. That’s the reason why I am here
now.

18. Why do you choose to be a trainer and not to be a teacher at school?


- I already comfortable in this field. I am seeing myself grow in this company. Just to prove
that I was hired here at BGO for about three times already. I’m really into this company. I
know this company and the management will help me to be better.
