Although there is no definite date that states exactly when peelers were invented, it’s said that it was
invented around the 1800’s by Thomas Williams and David Goodell. It is still controversial because there
were 500 patents filed for peelers in the 19th Century. David Goodell invented different devices and one
of those is apple Peeler. He sells his tool by going door to door and sold 24,000 in the first couple of
weeks. Alfred Neweczerzal of Davos, Switzerland, the inventor of the vegetable peeler. He invented "Rex
vegetable peeler" around 1947 during his tenure at the army. He was assigned to peel potatoes, that is
when he invented his tool to make it easier to peel. There is also no definite date when the first
automatic peeler was invented, making peeling much easier than it was before. The Automatic and
vegetable peeler keeps improving and upgrading. Today, there is one machine that can peeled 20 types
of fruit which is invented by ASTRA Inc.
