    Part I

    1a. Can UN militaries and UN Peacekeepers engage during combat missions? Why or why
    not?

    1b. According to the movie "Siege of Jadotville," did the UN awarded the soldiers? Explain
    your answer.

    Identify what international law is applicable in each situation and explain why.

    2a. During the war between State X and State Y, Mario (a State X soldier) was held captive
    by the soldiers of State Y. He was imprisoned for 2 weeks and was castrated after.

    2b. Mario’s comrades tried to rescue him but they were too late. Instead, they decided to
    avenge Mario’s death. They prepared high calibre guns with poisoned bullets to be used on
    the enemies.

    2c. Luigi, a medic of State X, went to Mario’s cell and gave him first aid. But Yongbo, a State
    Y soldier, saw Luigi helping Mario and immediately killed the two.

    2d. The armed conflict between the two States lasted for 2 months. State X launched a
    nuclear weapon that killed hundreds of State Y civilians.
