My insights about teaching profession

“A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart.” This is common cliché
associated when teachers are being talked in the line. Teachers which are considered
as our hero, second parent and origin of all the profession are indeed plays a big role in
our society.

However, others downgrade this kind of profession having their thoughts as this
job do not allow teachers to be in high economic status and unlike other profession that
they can accept fees, well, for teachers, they cannot. There are some people who
thought that taking up this course and choosing this field of expertise is merely a
practical option but I think deciding to dedicate your life in teaching is beyond
practicality. Here is the thing, in teaching, it’s not always the big minds who succeed but
those who had also a heart in touching the lives of the learners.

Even if we go deeper to the definition of teaching we will find out that it is really a
profession that needs to be recognized of. Teaching is the specialized application of
knowledge, skills and attributes that are designed to meet the educational needs of the
individuals in the society. From this lens alone, we can say that without the presence of
educators, our world would turn into dark and grey. Teachers provide a unique service
that no other profession can offer.

If we are still in doubt of considering teaching as a profession, I think we need to

know these following characteristics of a professional: requires formal qualification over
time (getting college diploma or a bachelor’s degree), having a specialized knowledge
(teaching Mathematics, Biology and other academic fields), getting a form of license
that authorized to practice, exhibiting high agreed standards of behavior as well as in
practice and possessing high personal standards and values.

What we need to know about teaching as a profession is that it is all about

inspiring and motivating learners to exercise and realize their potentials. The greatest
teachers of all time is a teacher that empowers a student on how to become a
responsible and productive members of the society.
