I do believe that it is necessary for our country to enact a law that perpetuates the ideals of freedom

and nationalism and instill in the mind of the Filipino youth the sense of patriotism.

With regards to the criteria for becoming a national hero it was clearly stated in the " Selection and
Proclamation of National Heroes and Laws Honoring Filipino Historical Figures" in the 2002 executive
summary report done by National Historical Commission (NHC) of the Philippines that "No law,
executive order or proclamation has been enacted or issued oficially proclaiming historical figure as a
national hero".

However if we are going to based on Executive Order 75 of former president Fidel V. Ramos, Dr. Jose
Rizal deemed to pass all criteria of becoming one of our national heroes but not a national hero.

But, among all national heroes why Rizal is given that much honor to passed a law the would teach
us, students about his life and contribution in our country. It is simply because he played a significant
role in the process of nation-building through his two most influential writings, Noli Me Tangere and El
Filibusterismo. It was also clarified by NHC that laws were given to a historical figure that brought much
contribution in our country in order to honor them. Knowing these, we can conclude that Republic Act
1425 or known as Rizal law is all worthy to be approved.
