Factor 2

STRUCTURE

The book, English of the New Generation (World Literature), provided by the

Sunshine Interlinks Publishing house, Incorporated contains such aspect in

organizing, sequencing, balancing, and pacing of the lesson itself which would help

the students’ acquisition of the knowledges the book has. The effectiveness of these

aspects adds to the overall efficiency of the book.

Organization and Sequence

The organization, as one of the characteristics by complete conformity to the

standards and requirements setted by the society, makes any published work to

contribute its effectualness to the readers. The text book was then organized according

to what is its purpose--an academic book. Hence, formality was present.

Likewise, the topics in the book was ordered to what extent it should be tackled.

The sequence of the topic is effective that the whole unit was talking about Greek

Mythology and it started from the classical times until it gets to the early modern

period. It begun from historiasizing about the beginning of Greek Mythology until the

chapter tackled about different myths and legends in Greece which will give the

readers a background first of what they are reading. Perhaps, the topic was ascending

that the unit had an effective way of presenting the lessons.

Balance

The state in which different things occur in equal or proper amounts of

importance has something to do with the aesthetically pleasing integration of elements

called balance that can support the other ideas, for example the book, the balance in

the topic in the book supports the organization and the sequence of the presentation of
the subject. If one topic is not parallel with the other topics, the structure of the book

would be greatly fail.

Perhaps, the balance in the unit at first cannot be seen as it was mentioned in the

first part of this factor that it was in an ascending order from history to mythical

stories. But, the balance can be seen through the main stories it showcased which

were excerpts from the all time legends of Greeks’ Iliad and Odyssey and Oedipus the

King. However, the story of King Oedipus do not paralleled to the popularity of Iliad

and Odyssey.

On the contrary, the book might add more stories that can lighten up the readers’

knowledge to Greek Literature as the book introduced only the famous ones (except

Oedipus the King).

Pace

The rate of progress of the topics in the book was kind of average that it is not too

fast but not too slow. The topics in the chapter had a smooth pacing that it started

from a brief history and background about Greece and Greeks, then it tackled next on

the gods and goddesses where this informations will be used in studying the myths

and legends in Greek Literature.
