USER MANUAL

1. General information

The load moment indicator (LMI) HC3926 can be equipped with

various cranes and has been designed to provide the crane operator with
the essential information which enable the machine to be used within its
designed parameters.
Using various sensing devices and operation mode, the HC3926
LMI monitors all crane functions and provides the operator with a real
time working condition parameter. The readings continuously change
with the crane action.
The HC3926 LMI also provides the operator with information
regarding the length and angle of the boom, tip height, working radius,
rated load and actual load. If non permitted conditions are approached,
the HC3926 LMI will warn the operator by an audible alarm, or a
warning light at the same time send out a cutting-off signal.
Combining with some control circuit of the crane, the operators
can only work to the safe direction, and telescope out, boom luffing
down, hoist up will be stopped.

2. Warnings

The HC3926 LMI is an operational aid which warns a crane

operator of an approaching of over-hoist condition and of overload
conditions which may cause damage to equipment and personnel.
This device is not, and should not, be a substitute for good
judgment, experience and accepted safe crane operating procedures, the
operator is solely responsible for the safe operation of the crane and
must observe and obey all warnings and instructions supplied by the
crane manufacturer .
Prior to operating a crane equipped with a operational aid, the
operator must carefully and thoroughly read and understand the
information in this manual and the crane manufacturer’s manual to
insure that the operator knows the operation and limitations of the
operational aid and crane. Proper functioning is dependent on proper
daily inspection and observance of the operating instructions set forth in
this manual.

5. System description

The HC3926 load moment indicator consists of a central

microprocessor unit (central unit), operating console, length/angle
sensor,pressure transducer and anti-two-block switch.
The system operates on the principle of reference/actual
comparison.
The actual value, resulting from the pressure measurement is
compared with the reference data stored in the central processor
memory and evaluated in the microprocessor. When limits are reached,
an overload-warning signal is generated at the operator’s console.
At the same time, the dangerous crane movements, such as hoist up,
telescope out and boom down will be stopped (need the cooperation of
the crane’s circuit).
The data regarding the crane, such as load capacity charts, boom
weights, centers of gravity and other geometry parameters are stored in
memory chips in the central processor unit and calculated by the central
unit for operation condition.
Boom length and angle are measured by the length/angle sensor,
which is mounted on the boom. The length cable reel also serves for

- 6 -
USER MANUAL

signal transmission for the anti-two-block switch.

The actual load is measure by the pressure transducer which
separately mounted in the cylinder piston and cylinder rod and then sent
to the central unit and calculated by microprocessor.
Pressure transducers attached to the main and auxiliary hoisting
rope measure the crane load.

7.4 Adjustment for the angle sensor

The angle sensor is installed in the same housing with the length
sensor.
First, retract the boom to the basic length and make sure the
displayed value accord with the actual length. Use the angle instrument
or the tape measure to check whether the actual angle between 10°and
70°keep the same with the displayed value. If not then must adjust the
angle sensor. You can loose the install bolt with an arrow mark in the
picture and write down the angle degree.
Adjust the angle sensor to change the radius. Usually per 0.5°
accord with 100mm. And then luffing to 70° and check the radius
again. Repeat the above action till the displayed value accord with the
actual value. And then tight the bolt again.

7.5 Buzzer

If the system display in order and no any error code but the buzzer
aloud without stop then you should check the connection between the
length cable and A2B switch to see whether it drop off or water fall in.

7.6 Length cable of the length sensor

The reason for the length cable that cannot drawback when the
boom retract or length cable loose when the boom retract to the basic
condition is that the mechanic peculiarity of the reelspring or the length
cable fall off the tank so the retrieve force decrease.
To solve the problem just tight the length cable inside the cable reel
for several rounds:
1. Withdraw the crane and lay the boom on the frame
2. Tight the cable reel for several rounds to make the length cable
can be draw out as normal
3. If tighting the cable cause boom length wrong display then
adjust the length sensor till the displayed value accord with the actual
boom length
