Answer: The name Bratislava was at first mentioned in the year 907. This age old beautiful city
is geographically situated in Slovakia's south-western part, bordering Austria and Hungary. The
city is well within the center of Europe. The city has 2 main rivers floating on; the Danube River
and the Morava River. The Carpathian mountain range and some rolling hills create a holistic view
of the city (bratislava.com, 2020).

The city experiences 4 seasons in a year. Spring, summer, autumn and winter being all of them.
There is more rainfall and a longer wet season in the highlands. The lowlands generally have
milder weather. Some portions of the city take a beating when the Danube River or Morava River
overflow and cause floods, but protection is being provided on both banks to prevent this
(bratislava.com, 2020) (visitbratisalva.com, 2020).

As being a city that ages more than a thousand year, Bratislava has a wide range of variety of trees.

(Monumental Trees, 2020).

The Castanea Sativa would be one of the most honorable

mentions if it is the topic of trees in Bratislava. It is also known
as the Sweet Chestnut tree in some places. This is a Southeastern
European tree that was spread throughout the Europe by the
Romans, often reaching big sizes in more rural or rugged areas.

The Castanea Sativa is the tree with the most girth in Bratislava.
It is surprisingly 8.90 meters wide! The tree is situated in a town
named Pezinok, just outside of the Bratislava city.

This very tree is also the oldest tree of the Bratislava city with an

Question 5: Write the geographical difference between Bangladesh and your

assigned country in 500 words.

Answer: Geography, in a simple definition, is the study of places and the relationship between
people and their environments. Every place on this earth and the relationship between people are
tend to be different from the other place; if not much then at least in few ways.

The country I am assigned to is Slovakia. So, the following discussion is regarding the
geographical differences between Bangladesh and Slovakia based on the main five themes.

Location
Bangladesh is a South Asian country. Our border is surrounded by India mostly and a few part the
border is with Myanmar. Our southern part is the coastal area and the Bay of Bengal being the sea.

Whereas, Slovakia is a central European country. The country is landlocked; surrounded by the
borders of Austria, Hungary, Ukraine, Poland and Czech Republic.

Place
Bangladesh has a subtropical monsoon climate characterized by wide seasonal variations. Though
we experience 6 different seasons all over the year, three of them are distinct and dominant;
summer, monsoon and winter. Bangladesh is a riverine country and it has a tremendous number

6
of rivers floating on its surface. The largest river delta on earth, Ganges Brahmaputra Delta, has
been floating within our country.

On the contrary, Slovakia is a land of moderate climate. There are four distinct season rotating
each year. These are spring, summer, autumn and winter. Also, Slovakia is a mountain-rich
country. The Gerlachov Peak being the highest peak with a 2655 meters of altitude.

Environment
Bangladesh depends on environment directly as agriculture is the most productive economic
sector. Almost all of the population depend directly or indirectly on agriculture due to their
livelihood or food. Also the environment is often affected due to the heavy population.

Slovakia, on the other hand, is considerably less depended on environment. They have advanced
technology and it serves them well. With a significantly less population density (111 per square
kilometer) than that of Bangladesh (1,106 per square kilometer), people tend to adopt to the
environment rather than affecting it.

Movement
Bangladesh has a good reputation of being agriculturally rich country. We are one of the biggest
tea exporters of the world right now and previously we had the same reputation for jute also.
Nowadays, the RMG sector is also boosting the national revenue. However, we are a large importer
of technological and industrial goods. People are coming from far countries for work, education
and research purpose too.

Slovakia is a third-world country that are known for their industrial production. They are rich in
automotive industry, energy and tourism. The most imported products in Slovakia are vehicle spare
parts, crude petroleum, and petroleum gas. Vehicle parts account for 8.3% of the country’s total
imports, while petroleum products account for approximately 9% cumulated
(companyformationslovakia.com, 2020).

7
Region
Bangladesh is part of the southern region of the Asian continent and Slovakia is in more of the
central region of the European continent. This signifies that there would be huge differences
regarding the physical and human features.
