Brainstorming for Research Topics”

Name: Ma. Luisa Jeralden M. Sevilla

Grade/Section: 12-Humss Macintosh

PRE-Test.

DEFINE:
1. Research- is a systematic, objective and comprehensive investigation of certain phenomenon which involves
accurate gathering and recording, and critical analysis and interpretation of all facts about the phenomenon for
theoretical or practical ends.

2. Basic Research – is the type of research which is conducted for the sake of knowing. It is also known as
theoretical research, because it is designed to address theoretical issues concerning phenomena such as cognition,
emotion, motivation or social behaviour. Focuses on the advancement and production of new knowledge. This
form of research is used by academicians and scientists, and the primary consumers.

3. Applied Research – is to be undertaken when the purpose is to obtain knowledge for practical application or
useful ends, thus it is known as practical research. Focuses on addressing a specific concern or usually offers
solution to a social problem. It is small-scale study that introduces practical results that can be used in the short
term. Usually done by practitioners in the business sector, government, health care sector, social service
organizations, and educational institutions.

4.Research Process – A Research process consists of series of actions or stepsnecessary to effectively carry out
research and the desiredsequencing of these steps. To produce new knowledge, or to offer a new manner of
understanding present knowledge.
5. Planning– A detailed description of a proposed study, it includes a literature review that justifies the study , its
hypothesis , description of the steps that will be followed in the study and information about the analysis of the
collected data. The plan provides a guide for conducting the study.

1.) What is the basic distinction between two major types of research?

—Basic research does not have immediate commercial objectives and although it certainly could, it may
not necessarily result in an invention or a solution to a practical problem. Applied research is designed to
answer specific questions aimed at solving practical problems.

2.) In what way is research related to problems or difficulties of mankind?

—Research can find answers to things that are unknown, filling gaps in knowledge and changing the way that
healthcare professionals work. The development of the society from its simple to its complex state will reveal
the many and varied problems which afflict human kind. Thus, solutions to problems must be based on
knowledge, not on mere beliefs, guesses or theories.

3.) What roles does research play in the life of an individual person and social group of society?

— Research empowers us with knowledge.nWe get to know the way of nature, and how our actions
affect it. We gain a deeper understanding of people, and why they do the things they do. Best of all, we
get to enrich our lives with the latest knowledge of health, nutrition, technology, and business, among
others. So not only is research an invaluable tool for building on crucial knowledge, it’s also the most
reliable way we can begin to understand the complexities of various issues; to maintain our integrity as
we disprove lies and uphold important truths; to serve as the seed for analysing convoluted sets of data;
as well as to serve as ‘nourishment’, or exercise for the mind.

4.) As a Senior High School student, why do you need to study this subject?

— From an individual point of view, the advantages of research extend beyond having an impressive
degree certificate. Through detailed research, students develop critical thinking expertise, as well as
effective analytical, research, and communication skills that are globally sought-after and incredibly
beneficial. Ultimately, research is essential to economic and social development of our globalised
society, forming the foundations governmental policies around the world.

and recording, critical analyses, and interpretation of facts about the phenomenon for theoretical or practical
ends.

Applied Research 3. It is a kind of research that focus on the advancement and production of new knowledge.

Summary and Findings 5. A written summary of published research studies and relevant works about a particular
subject matter that is related to the researcher’s main topic.

Bibliography 6. It contains all the published references used in the research study.

Abstract 7. The executive summary of research, a short summary or synopsis of the content of the research
paper.

Review of Related Literature 8. It can be a person, a group of people, an organization, a document, a message, or
an action that can be measured.

Theoretical Framework 9. A brief discussion of the theory your quantitative research study in investigating, or a
brief discussion of the theoretical perspective of your qualitative research.

The Researcph Design 10. This refers to the overall strategy that you choose to integrate the different components
of the study in a coherent and logical way, thereby, ensuring that the research problem will be effectively
addressed.
