DEMO: Predicting students' performance of
school examination result by using Machine
Learning
Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University : STOU
O-NET
• Ordinary National Educational Test
• To test the knowledge and thinking ability of Grade 6, 9, and 12 students in
Thailand
• The test subjects consist of Thai language, Mathematics, Science, Social
Studies, Religion and culture, and Foreign languages.
• Universities use the overall grade 12 (K-12) marks in calculating an
admission average.
• A machine learning approach for predicting students’ characteristics which
induce their behavior and performance
• In the example, we have a table of student information, with 249 rows and
6 attributes: public and private schools, school areas, gender, age, math,
and science scores for grade 12.
13
Exploratory data analysis

• Do Public school students have performed

higher than Private school counterparts on
standardized achievement tests?
• Do city schools perform better than rural
schools?
• Does age affects CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point
Average)?
