Prepare a cove at the junction. If more time is desired when preparing the cove, mix the
Shalimar Dam-it with ice water.
• In case of running water, Dam up running water. Prepare all cracks properly and, if possible,
relieve excess hydrostatic pressure by drilling a relief hole or by chiseling out the crack at
its very lowest point. Mix an adequate quantity of Shalimar Dam-it. After mixing,
immediately place the plug of Shalimar Dam-it in your hand and hold it until it suddenly
begins to get warm. This will take 2 –3 minutes from the start of mixing. At this point, speed
in working is essential. Force the Shalimar Dam-It plug into the hole or crack which is to be
sealed off. Start filling cracks or holes at the top. To close the final opening and seal off a
stream of water, make sure the Shalimar Dam-it plug is starting to warm up. At that
moment force into the hole and exert pressure either with your hand or trowel for a full 5

overall support.
• Rapid strength gain to minimize turn around time for equipment regrouts.
• Excellent working time at high ambient temperatures.
• Economical Greater volumes of grout can be mixed and handled with less labour.

Application Methodology
• Ensure that concrete surface is clean, sound, rough and is free from any standing water, oil,
dirt, debris, paint, unsound concrete or other contaminants.
O O
• Ensure that surface temperature & ambient temperature is not < 5 C and > 40 C.
• As a precautionary measure, remove all residue with a vacuum cleaner or pressure washing.

Page No : 75
• Pre-soak the concrete with water to ensure a saturated surface during the grouting process.
• Mix 25 kg ShaliGrout 73 with 4.125 L water for flow-able consistency. Where grouting is to
be done for deeper thickness (Bolt pocket grouting), add about 9-10 kg of pea gravel per 25
kg of ShaliGrout 73.
• Use requisite quantity of water to achieve desired flow level of ShaliGrout 73. Do not add
excess water as this may lead to bleeding & segregation. Do not add sand / cement to
ShaliGrout 73 as this may change its properties.
• Pour grout immediately after mixing from the one side into a watertight shuttering around the
machine basement / structure. Ensure that the air dispensed by pouring grout escapes and
air entrapment is avoided. The grouting should be continuous and maintain sufficient
pressure head to keep grout flowing. To prevent grouts from leaking out, use wooden or MS
shuttering material with a polythene sheets or coating of ShaliSlip.
• When grouting base-plate, pour grout into the head box and allow to flow under the plate.
Straps pre-placed under the plate will aid in working the grout across. Grout should be placed
at minimum of 25 mm thick and a maximum of 150 mm per lift when placed in a large mass.
• Bring all ShaliGrout 73 materials as well as foundation and base-plate as close to room
temperature as possible. Cold temperatures will significantly reduce flow characteristics and
will enhance difficulty of base-plate grouting. Higher temperatures will increase initial flow but
cut down on working time.
• Ensure proper curing of ShaliGrout 73 to achieve optimal durability / performance of grout.
Wet cure the grout until forms are stripped. Then cure the grout with high solid curing
compounds such as ShaliCure.

ShaliTile Glue
Fast Setting Dry Set Tile Adhesive Mortar

Description
ShaliTile Glue is a factory blend of Portland cement, sand and special chemical additives which
produce an excellent, fast setting dry-set mortar. ShaliTile Glue enables the contractor to set tile
and grout within two hours so that he will have a finished installation which can be open to foot
traffic in 24 hours.

ShaliTile Glue is used as a bond coat for setting absorptive, semi-vitreous and vitreous ceramic
tiles for service in residential and commercial use for both floor and wall installations. It is used in
mortar bed as thin as 2.5mm after the tiles have been properly embedded. ShaliTile Glue has
excellent water and impact resistance, is water cleanable, non-flammable, good for exterior work
and requires no soaking of tiles. ShaliTile Glue mortar is not affected by prolonged contact with
water, but does not form a waterproof barrier. ShaliTile Glue provides a permanent installation
with higher bond strength, and lower material and labor cost than conventional Portland cement
mortar beds.

Characteristics

Bulk Density, kg/m 1650 kg m approx Setting time, Minute 30 – 35

Application
• Suitable backings, when properly prepared, include plumb and true masonry concrete, cured
Portland cement mortar beds, bricks, unglazed ceramic tiles, and marble.

Advantages
• Pre-packed product requiring only direct mixing at site
• High bond strength. Ideal for vertical / horizontal applications of granite, marble, etc.
• Excellent grab during open time
• Quick fixing, reduces labour costs
• Can be used in the interior and exterior of buildings

Application Methodology
• Ensure that tiling surface is clean, dry, structurally sound, free of all grease, oil, dirt, dust,
curing compounds, sealer, coatings, efflorescence, old adhesive residues and any other
foreign matter. cleaning may be accomplished via mechanical sanding, scraping, or chipping.
• Roughen smooth steel troweled concrete floors to ensure a good bond. It is advisable to
dampen dry porous concrete before installing tiles with STP Tile Glue mortar. Do not leave
puddles or standing water on surfaces.
O O
• Ensure that temperatures ranges between 4 C - 38 C .
• For ceramic tile substrates the surface must be prepared in accordance with the requirements
for cementitious surfaces. It is also necessary to abrade the surface to ensure proper
bonding.
• Expansion joints shall be installed in accordance with local building codes. Expansion joints,
control joints and cold joints shall never be bridged with setting material.
• Add ShalliTile Glue to clean, potable water in the ratio of 3 : 1 by volume. Mix thoroughly until
smooth mortar consistency is achieved.

Page No : 87
• If a mechanical mixer is used, do not use a high speed drill to mix mortar. Mix only enough
mortar that can be used within 30 minutes. The proper mortar consistency is such that when
applied with a notched trowel to the substrate, the ridges formed in the mortar will not flow or
slump. Some stiffening of the mortar may occur prior to 30 minutes; re-stir occasionally. If
after 30 minutes the material becomes hardened, do not add water, but discard the material.
• Spread mortar with flat side of trowel to key-in substrate; then, apply additional mortar to a
depth sufficient to be notched with a suitable trowel that will leave only enough mortar to give
100% contact with back of tile and a subsequent mortar bed of 2.4mm to 4.8mm.
• With high lug tiles, “back buttering” may be required to ensure 100% coverage to back of tiles.
• During the setting of tile, it is advisable to occasionally remove a tile, to ensure good transfer
of mortar to tile and for proper alignment. Do not adjust tiles in mortar after they have been
set past 10-15 minutes.
2
NOTE: As a practical test it is recommended that three or more separate 30cm areas of tile
be bonded to the properly prepared surface with the actual tile and bonding material
that will be used on the finished installation. These should be allowed to cure for 24
hours and then removed with a hammer and chisel. At this point, one can determine if
adequate bond has been obtained or if a problem exists.
Limitation
• ShalliTile Glue must not be applied directly over wood, asphalt sheeting, vinyl covered wall
board, cement asbestos board, metal, glass, plastic, or gypsum mortar beds.
O
• Apply in temperature ranges above 4 C (Do not allow mortar to freeze for the first 72 hours).
Lower temperatures may require longer set time before traffic is allowed.
• Some green or red marbles may warp when installed with setting materials containing water
causing loss of bond and/or damage to the finish.

Health & Safety

• Use mask, nose cover and hand gloves during application.
• Clean hands with soap water after application.
• Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid inhalation of dust.
• Avoid contact with skin / eyes. In case of unlikely contact with eyes, rinse immediately with
plenty of clean water, then cleanse with soap and lukewarm water and seek medical advice.
Do not use solvent to clean the contacted area.
• Prevent swallowing. In case of unlikely swallowing, seek medical attention immediately. Do
not induce vomiting

coating.
• Prime surface with ShaliPrime CT.
• Stir drums of each component thoroughly for uniformity. Then mix component A and
component B in the ratio of 4 : 1 by volume and stir for homogeneousness. For best result,
use a variable speed drill mixer with a spiral type blade at the bottom of stirrer rod. The speed
may be 400-600 rpm.
• Place the spiral blade at the bottom of the container before starting the mixer. This will help
avoiding inducting air into the mass. Slowly move the stirrer head up to the surface while
stirring. Do not remove the blade while still it is spinning. This procedure is continued for 5
minutes up and down to have a homogeneous mixing. Allow the combined mix to sit for an
induction time of 20 minutes. Stir again gently with a hand stirrer to ensure uniformity before
application.

®
For best results, apply two coats of ShaliPoxy CTE by brush, roller or spray. First coat
should be allowed to dry tack free before application of second coat. The second coat should
be applied as per technical data. Wipe first coat with MIBK and wipe dry with cloth before
second coat or it may also be applied directly. For airless spray, use standard equipment
