APRN Program Applicant Personal Statement

One major step advancing my nursing career is to become an Advanced Practice

Registered Nurse (APRN). As a matter of fact, obtaining certification in APRN from West Coast

University will propel me further in my professional advancement. I possess the necessary

educational qualification and work experience in various tasks in the RN scope. Becoming an

APRN will broaden my knowledge of the profession, prepare me for new challenges and enable

me excel in the nursing profession. My decision to become an APRN is fostered by the desire to

gain leadership experience in carrying out the roles of an advanced nurse. As an advanced nurse,

I will be providing professional, accountable and compassionate multi-specialty health care

services for my clients, irrespective of their race, ethnicity, religion, and social status. Working

with a physician will afford me the time and exposure to gain knowledge in disease diagnosis

and treatment. Throughout my previous years in nursing education and practice, I have acquired

knowledge and experience in regular care services like performing regular health checkups,

prescribing treatment and medication for health conditions, providing support in surgical

procedures, and improving general health conditions.

All through my journey in the nursing profession both in the classroom and in the clinic

makes me qualified to apply for this program. I have functioned at Logistics Health Incorporated

(LHI), a subsidiary of OptumServe, a federal health business of Optum and United Health Group

where my role involves to collect specimens from asymptomatic and symptomatic patients to

determine their Covid-19 status. I have also functioned at Active Plus Home Health Care Service

in Los Angeles, California – as a private nurse for patients at home providing start of care, and

resumption of care. I also functioned at Hospice & Comfort Care as the nurse that evaluates

patients, develop & implement care plans, and support/comfort family members. In all these

work experiences, I have demonstrated efficient communication skills to my patients, their

families, and co-workers of every pedigree. I also demonstrated efficient supervision and

monitoring skills by continuously monitoring my patients’ health, discharge, physician

appointments and hospitalizations. As patient’s advocate, I have demonstrated this responsibility

by increase the awareness of patients, their families, and the community on the resources

available for them in the health care industry. I also advocate for my patients by executing

complete patient care through safe, affordable and quality practices while also developing

progress and clinical notes to track the status of established care plans and care objectives.

It is my goal to advance my nursing career and also gain additional experience in

developing care plans for disease condition. By enrolling/completing the APRN, I will obtain

practical experience in various disease conditions like hypertension, diabetes, pneumonia, etc. I

will then be in a better position to educate and inform my patients, their families and the

community. The APRN education program will broaden my scope of practice in the profession

to include the responsibility of interviewing new nurses and helping them decide on the path to

follow judging from their skills, capabilities and behavior. My short-term goal is to obtain the

APRN certification and acquire new experiences and new job description and roles in my career.

My short-term goal is to function as an APRN in an reputable hospital and also acquire

certifications in nursing management and clinical leadership.

I chose to have my APRN training at West Coast University because I am attracted with

the institution’s reputation and values in preparing tomorrow’s nurses for excellence. The WCU

APRN training schedule is flexible enough to accommodate the flexibility required by working-

class individuals to also fit into the study program. WCU APRN training program prepares

graduates with enhanced nursing skills and knowledge to solve the evolving challenges in the

healthcare sector. WCU offers online classes which I prefer to conventional physical classroom

sessions because I can connect to from anywhere. WCU also supports its nursing graduates after

the last day of training by helping them on professional and career development through

guidance and workshop organized by the institutions Career Services Department. I look forward
