Evidencia 4 AA 2 Resumen - Product Distribution The Basics
PRESENTADO:

Summary
Any productive unit that increases its operations will need the optimization in the
distribution of either its inputs or its finished products, in order to maximize the
productivity of the productive unit.
It is essential to know the basic aspects of the distribution of products such as
modes of transport, because this way you could perform a cost analysis to know
which mode of transport you could choose to minimize the distribution costs.
For this cost analysis, the characteristics of the products to be transported must be
borne in mind because variables such as nature, time, volume, weight and cost
depend directly on the product to be transported. For example: sending highly
perishable products by sea would entail loss of products due to factors of time and
nature.
Product distribution
Any productive unit that increases its operations will need the optimization in the
distribution of either its inputs or its finished products, in order to maximize the
productivity of the productive unit.
It is essential to know the basic aspects of the distribution of products such as
modes of transport, because this way you could perform a cost analysis to know
which mode of transport you could choose to minimize the distribution costs.
Each mode of transport has specific benefits as shown below:
Land transport: It is a very versatile mode of transport for short and
medium distances because it is one of the most economical in budget, has a
variety of modifications for the transport of many types of products such as
liquids, bulk, general cargo , dangerous products among others.
Rail transport: It is a very fast, economic mode of transport and with great
weight support because it has specialized routes that optimize the distance
traveled between two points.
Air transport: It is the mode of transport more expensive but the fastest,
does not allow much volume, or weight because it must compensate the

weight of the aircraft to be able to take the products in an optimal and safe
way.
Maritime transport: It is a mode of transport widely used for the distribution
of products between several countries, it is the one that more volume and
weight supports but the distribution of products through it is very slow.
3
o Transporte marítimo: Es un modo de transporte muy utilizado para la
distribución de productos entre varios países, es el que más volumen y
peso soporta pero es muy lenta la distribución de productos a través del
mismo.
