Announcements
WHAT’S NEW:
The month of June has been a steady one for our
organization. We have continued to educate our Updates
followers, provide helpful information, and gain new July’s Monthly Career
support for ourselves. Our organization has recently Focus: Ocular Surgery
started accepting donations and sponsors in order to
promote our goal of educating future medical Upcoming
professionals and assisting us in our ability to provide October Quarterly Event
opportunities and events for our members.

We are less enthusiastic to have said that our June

event had to have been canceled. However, our next
event is the next best thing we look forward to. Look
out for our October Quarterly Event, which we hope to
host to even more members compared to our first
event, which we are incredibly proud and grateful for
having been able to accomplish. Be sure to stay tuned
for information on this event!
Overview of
Neurosurgery
FMP CLT’s weekly career posts have covered the
education, training, and day-to-day life of a typical
neurosurgeon. Neurosurgery, known commonly as brain
surgery, is the medical profession related to the brain,
spine, and nervous system. Neurosurgery is the medical
specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis,
surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders related
to the brain, spine, and nervous system.

In order to become a fully licensed neurosurgeon, one

must complete four years of pre-medical education at a
college or university, four years of medical school
resulting in an M.D. or D.O. degree, one year of an
internship in general surgery, and five to seven years in a
neurosurgery residency program. Most neurosurgeons
specialize in treating congenital anomalies, trauma,
tumors, vascular disorders, infections of the brain or
spine, stroke, or degenerative diseases of the spine.
Neurosurgery is an incredibly demanding field, and so
one must be prepared to provide the necessary duration
capability in order to succeed. Neurosurgeons must have
durable physical stamina as it proves to be necessary for
longer operations. In fact, a typical surgery is around 3-7
hours, but some take much longer.

Story Posts
Our performance regarding story posts has sky-rocketed in the past two months. We have been
able to provide general information regarding alternative forms of medicine, differences
between medical professions, pathways to practice, etc. With our story posts, our followers and
potential members have been able to gain further insight into the world of medicine and its
depths.

If you’re not already following us on Instagram, we highly recommend you do. Not only will you
gain insight every Tuesday and Thursday from our monthly career posts, but our story posts will
keep you updated on important information every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!

FMP CLT has created a FaceBook account in hopes of providing content for our friends and
members on that platform. We aspire to provide content for both kids and parents, including
interesting content to engage all members of our appeal groups. Don’t forget to stay tuned for
