Hello everyone! My name is Jasher Dave C. Acabal and I’m from the Philippines. It’s such a great and honor for me to be
part of this wonderful learning advent. Some of us here know that learning language is a complex, time-intensive task
that requires dedication, persistence and hard work. Why did I choose this course? I choose this course for me to
sharpen my ability to speak and understand deeply the learning and teaching styles to be able that profound students
will have the courage to learn more from me. To give my assumption on “Why language is like a slice of cake? To make
this metaphor in simple, as we look at a nice and beautiful cake fresh from bake shop; it is more palatable and surely
delicious, but in order to have a perfect cake, you need to have complete ingredients nothing more and nothing less.
From its flour to its final decoration, coating different color of icing and sprinkling of toppings will confidently attract the
eyes of the consumers, isn’t right? On the other hand, if you order a cake with inexpensive ingredient you would expect
the price that you paid for, your comment definitely would be, “Well it’s okay”, “Hmmm, expected”, sometimes we
asked “is this a cake?” those are example of some reactions that we vocally or mindfully express. We know that in
baking cake it consists of the following ingredients: Flour, sugar, baking powder, and oil/milk. Likewise, with learning
language it composes of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The same thing goes the student should not expect to
grasp everything about a language in a semester or two, because to be successfully so called learners it will takes time
for us to be perfect and master the subject matter. Sometimes the usual students, who can speak English as they
thought they are perfect, are those students who probably commit mistakes than the regular students are making in
average. In this case, teacher should be there to guide the students and make them realize that it is always good to have
ambitions and self-confidence, but patience is also needed to get the result desired. And finally it has something to do
with teaching English simply because it is the universal language, we used to speak English to communicate other people
or different nationality and also in finding a job they used it for an interview. So it means that learning English is
important we connect and understand one another. Thank You!
