School days are back! You are now
ready to pack your back pack with
your books, notebooks, and pencil
cases. As you prepare for school, here
are some directions to avoid hurting
your back and shoulder with your
heavy backpack.
1. First, you must select the proper
backpack. When you are choosing, it
is good to pick a backpack with
multiple compartments so that weight
is distributed well. It is also good to
choose a backpack with padded straps
to be easy on your shoulders.
2. Next, when packing your things in your
chosen backpack, distribute the weight of
your backpack evenly. To organize your
things, put heavier items close to the
center, and then put lighter things toward
the sides. Although all things can fit in the
center compartment, use the
compartments to dis tribute the weight.
3. Third, pick up your backpack properly.
To pick it up, bend your knees and then
grasp the pack with both hands before
putting it on. Wear both straps of the
backpack every time you carry it. It will
feel lighter. It will also promote good
posture.
4. Know when your backpack is too
heavy. It is too heavy if you slouch when
you carry it. Another sign that your
backpack is too heavy is when you feel
numbness in your shoulders or arms when
carrying it.
5. Finally, always check the contents of
your backpack every night. Remove
things that you do not need to bring the
following day. You do not need
everything every day. However, there are
things that you need every day so keep a
checklist of items that are for daily use

DELIVERING AN
IMPROMPTU
SPEECH
IMPROMPTU SPEECH
is done with very little or no
preparation
An impromptu speech is done with very little or no preparation at all.

Organization of ideas and words is done simultaneously with the actual

delivery itself.

The most challenging aspect of impromptu speaking is generating and

organizing your thoughts.

Most of the time, an impromptu speech will test your prior knowledge
about a certain topic.

Sometimes when asked a question, your mind may flood with countless
possible answers.

The challenge will be greater if your topic is on a subject you know

nothing about.
The introduction gives the opening or greeting
of the impromptu speech. It is necessary that
you mention the purpose of your speech in
your introduction, The Introduction also gives
an overview of your topic.
The body of the impromptu speech
provides the main ideas and supporting
details of the speech. You may give
examples to explain your main points.
The conclusion often gives the summary of
the main points. When giving an impromptu
speech, remember to use verbal and nonverbal
cues as you deliver your impromptu speech,
Also, using the appropriate facial expressions,
gestures, and tone will help you connect to
your audience.
Remember to be confident and sincere
when delivering your speech. You will
gain the trust and admiration of your
audience if you are confident and
sincere. In addition, you will establish
your credibility. Here is an example of
an impromptu speech.
A Special Hobby

Introduction:
Basketball is known to be a favorite pastime of both young and old. Playing
basketball is a great way to exercise and also a good way to have fun with your
friends. It is a very entertaining sport and can be played by anyone.

Body:
I started playing basketball when I was ten years old. I was inspired by my favorite
player. He is a tall and unstoppable guy. Because of him, I always watched basketball
games. I learned the importance of following the rules. There are also techniques that
you need to acquire. Hours of practice will help one improve his/her skill. Engaging
myself in this sport helps me become physically and mentally fit. Furthermore, it has
also taught me sportsmanship, teamwork, and perseverance.

Conclusion:
I highly recommend this sport to the young and old. Surely, you will have great time!
To develop a good impromptu speech, here is on technique.
