1. Introduction
1.1. Rationale
1.1.2. Explain how the program is being proposed in response to a felt need to
fill a new/ updated area of specialization. Show that it is not a duplication
of an existing program in other units. (Attach comments as Appendix E from
other units within the CU and other CUs offering similar courses)
1. Program goals
1.1. Broad statement describing what your graduates will do after going through the
program; starts with statement: “At the end of the program, graduates ….”
1.2. How would the program achieve contribute to the vision of the academic unit?
2. Program/course structure
2.1. Organize program into groupings, e.g. core, foundation, elective, cognates, etc.
and the no. of units per grouping.
2.2. Give a schematic diagram showing the progression of courses (Appendix A – see
example).
3. Program requirements
3.1. State policies your unit will adopt from admission to graduation of students in the
proposed program.
