Hello,
We are group 3 would like to summarize and comment on what we have read about “5
types of Instructional Videos and When to Use Them” (link above).
We are amazed of types of video that we can create in order to deliver our thought,
idea, or creativity. We have just known that, based on the reading, there are 5 types of
instructional videos that we can make. It divides the types of video based on the length,
the ways of making, and the purposes.
First, we would like to mention all of the instructional videos types mentioned in the
article. There are Microvideo, Training Video, Screencast, Presentation and Lecture
Capture.
Microvideo is a short instructional video that focuses on teaching a single narrow topic.
It is less than a minute long. So it is on point without including any unnecessary
explanation.
Tutorial Video is a the go-to instructional method for teaching a process or walking
through the steps needed to complete a task. It is about 2-10 minutes long. For making
this video, a creator should decide the result like is it just communicated visually, a
written tutorial, or with voices of instructions?; is it in line with the content’s
expectations?; and can you make it regularly?.
Training Video is designed to improve employees’ workplace skills. They commonly
cover interpersonal topics. It is similar to tutorials, it leverages multiple instructional
techniques with 2-10 minutes long. The difference is this type of video should use real
people.
Screencast is a video composed primarily of screen recordings designed to teach
someone to perform a task or share knowledge. It tends to quick, informal, and are
usually for smaller audience that tutorial videos. Often, screencasts are considered
“disposable” videos, meaning they can be made quickly, with lower production value, for a
specific purpose, and their lifespan is short.
Presentation and Lecture Capture is a recording of a lecture or presentation to make it available
for an audience who couldn’t attend the live event. This might be as simple as recording just the
audio for a presentation, or as advanced as recording PowerPoint point slides, a webcam and a
separate microphone all at once. It is longer that other types of instructional videos because
usually it is based on the duration of the class given.
We through discussion finally understand the meaning of 5 types of instructional videos.
We agree that TIK TOK is a platform that creator can post a video of 1 to 3 minutes
long. Therefore, Microvideo, Tutorial, Trainng video and even screencasting could be
posted there. Also, there are a lot of screencasting type of videos that we can find on
TIK TOK. It also includes text.

We are eager to make an educational video for our students. Their generation is
accustomed to TIK TOK. They are forced to watch and create videos by their friends.
Some of videos are watched just for fun. We would like to take a benefit of this situation.
Therefore, we as a teacher, planning making a video and posting on TIK TIK so that our
students could learn English there. We hope we could make GOOD videos for them.
