Classroom Policies

Prepared by: Keith Lester A. Mallorca

Aside from a universal classroom policy set by the university, the following are
the specific policies everyone in the class must follow. I am asking everyone to be
Internet Smart and Responsible as we take this path of online classes.

The Platforms
First, you must familiarize the three platforms that we will be using, namely
Google Classroom, Google Meet, and Facebook Group Chat.

1. The Google Classroom platform will be used for posting of assigned tasks,
requirements to pass, learning materials and links, and other relevant information
and materials.
2. The Google Meet, as a built-in video conference of the classroom, will be used as
a platform for online classes. The link of the scheduled Meet will be posted in the
google classroom.
3. The Facebook Group Chat will be used for immediate announcements and
information since this reaches users faster and it is a more convenient medium to
receive important and sudden messages.

The Policies
In any means, we take oath to abide to the following rules and regulations. Aside
from doing well in the course, abiding to these rules is as consequential as the former.
Violation to any of these corresponds to sanctions stipulated in the universal classroom
policy and student handbook. I ask you to follow these to have a smoother and more
relaxed Meet and Classroom experience.

A. Meet

1. Every time you join a Meet, automatically turn off your microphone to avoid
unnecessary background noise. You may turn off your video if deemed necessary
or due to slow internet connection. However, one needs to ask permission to the
teacher if he or she wants to turn off his or her video through the Meet’s Chat.
2. If one wants to ask question or answer a question, he or she needs to prompt the
teacher by using the “raise hand” button. One needs to wait to be acknowledged
before he or she can turn on his or her audio.
3. Late students are still allowed to join the Meet as long as upon joining, he or she
needs to inform or notify the teacher through the Chat.
4. If one needs to be out from the Meet, he or she also needs to ask permission from
the teacher via Chat or Raised-Hand button.
5. The Chat must be used for important situations or conversations only as stated
above and not for personal conversation with your classmates.
6. If deemed necessary, the teacher is allowed to Mute a student’s audio if he or she
does not abide to what has been told prior to the muting.
7. All students must automatically go out of the Meet after the session and are not
allowed to rejoin. All queries must be asked prior to the dismissal. If not
obedient, the teacher is allowed to Kick Out the students.
8. The entire Meet will be recorded and be posted in the google classroom for the
benefit of those who aren’t capable of attending the class.
9. Attendance will be taken through Meet Attendance. This record all time-ins and
–outs of participants. However, this will not affect one’s performance or grades.
The sole purpose of this attendance is for the teacher’s record for future follow-
ups to those who aren’t frequently attending the class.
10. No one is allowed to invite UNNECESSARY guests to join the meet. Everyone
not using the WVSU account will be denied unless; the teacher is informed via
the Facebook Group Chat prior to the scheduled Meet.
11. You are not asked to be present in the Meet all the time if you have internet
issues. Recorded meetings will be posted in the google classroom. However, I do
not encourage someone to be ABSENT the entire semester.
12. Be Internet Responsible and make even online classes or video conferences be
PEACE-ified. You aren’t high school anymore, you are a COLLEGE student
now. Step up and be mature. No one in the academe likes Spiteful and
Unpleasant men and women. Learn and make a good difference, if not for others,
then at least for yourself.

B. Facebook Group Chat

13. All immediate or sudden announcements will be posted in the FB Group Chat.
14. One can personally ask a question about the lesson through the Group Chat
during off-Meet sessions.
15. The chatroom must not be used for irrelevant messages to diminish conversation
history.
16. Other announcements might be posted in the Group Chat as it reaches users
faster.

C. Google Classroom

17. Frequently visit the classroom for assigned tasks, requirements, and necessary
learning materials.
18. All requirements must be sent via the classroom as attachment to the post of the
assigned task.
19. If one cannot pass on the set deadline, he or she must inform the teacher through
a private message on the same post (or assignment).
20. Students are allowed to access and download all materials posted in the
classroom. However, all materials posted in the classroom must not be posted in
other platforms.
21. Be responsible in accessing the classroom. Do not allow other people to access the
classroom or use your account to access the classroom.
22. Assigned tasks will be through attached pdf files, links, or google forms.
23. Have extra time exploring the features of the classroom as a student.
24. Do not treat the Stream section like an FB timeline. It is intended for
announcements and important posts.
25. Scores will be given as a feedback days after submission. You are asked to
privately message the teacher if you receive no feedback.
26. Sometimes, the teacher will post a Query on the classroom and students are
asked to respond through commenting on the post.
27. You are always welcome to remind the teacher of things not delivered which are
supposedly to be delivered.
28. Always remind yourself to treat the google classroom not as a social media
platform but a respected instruction and learning space or environment.

28 is referred to as a perfect number and above are 28 perfect yet simple and
understandable policies everyone must follow to have a better Classroom and Meet
experience this semester. Don’t be a problem, rather try solving a problem.
That’s being a college student!

Thank You and God bless.

The Unscented Pledge

Upon reading this wonderful and encryption free file on Classroom Policies, I allow
the teacher to save some cookies out of the jar and as well, have myself a more
comfortable classroom and meet experience this semester. To avoid needless issues
and problems, I do hereby pledge to abide on the above-stipulated policies
and step up to be a more mature and responsible Digital Citizen and
student of West Visayas State University. This is my ninja way of taking part
in this new normal of learning.
