REFLECTION PAPER ON DESIGNING PRODUCTS, SERVICES AND PROCESSES

Designing the company’s products, services and process would be of big help for the

company’s goal to achieve greater profits. Undeniably, there are competition in the market, it

should be a company’s effort to stand out in a competing market.

The first thing that would attract consumers would be the looks of the product.

Businesses have been exerting subsequent efforts just to make their outputs appealing unto the

eyes of consumers. The various activities and responsibilities of Product and Service design

include:

(a) Translate the customer wants and needs into product and service requirements. To meet the

needs and wants of the customers is one of the keys to sustain a business, it is a firm’s job to

transform those ideals from input to output. (b) Refine existing products and services. Through

time, consumer’s tastes and preferences have been constantly evolving, with this, companies

should consider product development to meet customer’s changing preferences. (c) Develop new

products and services. Adding product lines can be one of the considerations of a business, not

only it adds profit but plenty of products or services that the company can choose from. (d)

Formulate quality goals that would be beneficial in directing the business operations.

To achieve all these, designing processes is the core of the achieving different goals. It is

important to harmonize and align processes along with the firm’s goals. There should be a clear

establishment on each of processes from the starting up of the business up to sending off of

deliverables to customers.
